This isnt just limited to Valentines Day. People can set unrealistic expectations for Christmas, you could wake up and go to the living room and find a tiny Charlie Brown style Christmas tree with only 1 ornament. You might be pressured to spend a ton of money giving people presents for Christmas, when you arent even sure what they want. Christmas could envoke depressive thoughts when you didnt get what you wanted, or just got coal in your stocking. You might also make comparisons to other people, like how your neighbor has so many Christmas lights and decorations on their house when you cant afford a simple light bulb change. Replace Christmas with any holiday and some of the other stuff and you get the same story.

Valentines day is a day that celebrates love and beautiful things, everything that felt so unobtainable and ebery year it threw it in my face.
Well. now I am 21, I have a boyfriend, and I have learned to appreciate who I am. Life is a strange, and beautiful thing. Healing takes time. Valentines can be what you want it to be, and for our first valentine's day we cuddled in the livingroom and watched Winnie the Pooh.

Ive never liked Valentines Day for these reasons. I was never the kid who got the special letter from someone, or that person who everyone wanted to let them know how much they liked them. I was always the person everyone would go to, when no one else would. I had a lot of friends tell me no one was getting them flowers, but theyd love flowers and how itd make their day, or how theyd pay for them, etc. and this kinda hurt because it kept reminding me that I was second choice, second best, no ones first choice. So Valentines Day isnt something that I really enjoy.
Oddly enough, I love the name valentine. Think its just a cool name.

Never had a lover or Valentine, so all it does to me, is make me more aware i'm still single.
Plus many nowadays tend to demand a lot more than what their incomes are.
Just buy something nice for the other at their birthdays and any random day, cuz so many Valentines Day gifts are very expensive stuff put on sale, just so many believe the excuse that it makes their love better, while it's merely to sell expensive stuff to people, even with lower incomes.
Have something you wanna give your partner? Give it any day, don't wait for Valentines Day to buy more expensive stuff.

I gave a friend of mine a card I made on Valentines Day (but had to give it to her today because different schedules high school am I right) Ive known her since elementary school and shes a great friend thats why I call Valentines Day self-reflection day so I can reflect on my life the good and bad. Being single is alright even if I do yearn for a partner but hope everyone enjoyed their Valentines Day (dont forget to love yourself and appreciate the people closest to you in your life who genuinely care for you)

When it comes to romance on Valentine's day it is honestly only followed with excess pressure if you don't do cute shit every once in a while. It dont have to be Valentine's day to have a steamy night in the tub w candles, chocolate and wine.

Im aromantic and Valentines Day is a special kind of hell for me. Weirdly enough, Im romance repulsed as well. I dont mind couples showing physical affection, I find it quite sweet, but kissing in my field of view is just not it. Valentines Day is just a day where Im in constant discomfort because romance is shoved in my face. Least favourite holiday.

Still agree to this day. This Valentines Day is going to be the death of me. I always hated Valentines Day & I haven't celebrated it in 17 years since the 4th grade. What's making it worse is that my best friend got engaged & I don't relate to her anymore. I love being single but I hate feeling left out when all your friends are married.

i can't say i was ever happy when it was Valentines day i was never upset either it was just a day but for the last 2 years someone bought something for me on valentines day and i'd be lying if i said i know who i just suspected one of my teachers i doubt its a student my confidence won't let me think for a second its another student

Valentine's Day shouldn't be about couples only! It should be about celebrating the friendships you have and worshiping the meaning of family! Self love is also very important because some people tend to forget that they matter too! By yourslef a little treat if you feel alone because loving yourself is very important!

All I did was play video games alone all day during Valentine's Day. Either that or just sleep all day and do nothing. Every game consoles in my room have 2 controllers, but I'm the only one playing. Yeah. 2022. I'll always be single. Because I'm not as perfect or important as others I knew.

In here Finland, valentines day is Finnish language friends day and and we give valentines cards our friends. And we are not that super materialistic that like americans. We are modest and our tax system take care poor people.
