Im not sure if im depressed or if im just a very lazy person. I do have trouble getting to sleep, and i am not very motivated. I find it difficult to brush my teeth or just get out of bed. Im normally feeling empty, or sad for no reason. Ill notice small things throughout the day and blame it on me if anything goes wrong. In the past year, jve randomly started crying but i normally hold back the tears and move to another room since i hate vulnerability. However, i still am living with my family, and my mother yells at me to brush my hair or get dressed so i do it to keep her happy but for me it just feels so difficult to do. Then i feel guilty for not being able to complete these simple tasks. I have gotten new hobbies, but fall out of them within a week or so. I still go out, and i can feel slight joy or laugh at things and i still put on a smile if someone tells me something exciting. But, i dont really feel excited. I put on a face and pretend but im not sure if that is a symptom of depression. I am very slow nowadays, i cant even run fast. My grades have dropped, and i used to love handwriting, but now i right very scruffy and often work to an its good enough level instead of doing the best i can. Another thing is people have started calling me lazy as well during the time all this started, and it did bring my mood even lower. This has been going since March, is it depression or am i just the laziest person to ever exist? I have started looking into depression and i normally have nearly all the symptoms. Ive also noticed my memory has gotten worse, i cant even remember my friends names anymore.

Well, this describes me to a tee. The depression part that is.
I've been battling with ALL of those signs of depression for nearly 20 years all without any therapy or medication, mostly because I can't afford either which, incidentally, increases the sadness and hopelessness that I feel. In my country, there's no subsidized care regarding mental health, and I wouldn't trust it if there was considering the quality of healthcare here.
An inability to see to my own well-being just makes me feel even more worthless, hopeless, and useless; it's that which I struggle with.
I pursue goals and dreams only because I hope they'll work and I can start living my life on my own terms, but self-sabotage and a lack of motivation, inspiration and drive make even simple things incredibly difficult.
Self-discipline is also something I just can't seem to do. I wake up in the morning and I wonder what the point of getting out of bed is.

Growing up my mother always said that I was lazy. I didn't want to play outside but would rather stay inside my room and read. I wasn't motivated in school and it always felt like in class I didn't understand what was being said and taught it sounded like a foreign language. I would sit and stare off into space. If the teacher called on me even though I never would raise my hand, suddenly my heart would pound and I would be like a scared rabbit. I wouldn't be able to answer because I didn't understand what I was being asked and I would be so embarrassed as I stayed silent until the teacher called on another student. I was like that all through school. I don't even have the interest in going anywhere. It takes a lot for me to do anything. But I have been dealing with depression for a long time. I was diagnosed with ADHD years ago. I like these videos and her calm voice in explaining things.

thank you for making this comparative video. i try to not be too hard on myself for barely doing things that i was supposed to give my best to, i know i was very depressed( still am, but it's not as bad i think) and all that but it's just still, persistent. i cant just shrug it all off and think well i tried my best in context with the mental state i had even tho i do try to say it sometimes to myself. because that excuse doesn't work irl, right? no one will accept that answer, it will be just another excuse. and i am going through the consequences of not giving my best at that time, pursuing a subject i didnt really want to pursue. but i hope i make it. i will try to do my best from now on!
this video made me feel better for a few minutes and might help a bit in not blaming myself too muchhh.

I feel like I have massive social anxiety as when I just have to talk to a stranger for even some small thing like picking up prescription or making a phone call my heart starts to beat like crazy sweat and shake I've isolated myself so badly hardly talk to parents and no friend texts me anymore no reason to go outside so pretty much 24/7 in my room.
Depression controls me as well I wanna do so many things like learn piano do some programing finish college go to university and try to get a job or just get a job but I'm terrified to talk to people and I'm scared for things to change scared for people to start seeing me different or take notice of me.
I'm sick of it all I can't even get help all I want is death at this point.

The thing is I force myself to do things. My first thought is- If I don't do it, somebody's not gonna be happy. I'm an above average person in both grades and height, so whenever I get a B if it's anything below an 83 people are surprised and mad, and I'll break down in my room and start telling myself to do better, whether or not I know I can make the changes or not. Anything below a 90, however, my classmates are still shocked but other people just tell me, 'I know you can do better. I honestly don't know if I have depression or not (Hoping I don't but if I do at least my mom knows how to help) but I've asked about therapy lessons and maybe I can get some set up for me?

Hey. I've a question. So umm whenever I am on the phone I am always like away from the insecurities and depression and stuff, I might have em in my mind but doesn't bother me that much and I am Mostly alone when I am On the phone. And whenever someone walks in I try to hide myself and If I am Not on the phone, my insecurities, depression and stuff hits me. So what this situation is? I am so confused I need ur help - plzz respond if u can
And also if there's a reason for always feeling so sleepy and tired even after taking a long sleep of 8-9hrs per day u stil not feel energetic enough to do something. Is there's a reason behind this too?

I don't know whether I am depressed? I feel numb no passion no happiness I don't feel emotions even if I cry I don't feel relief in my heart as I used to feel. I know I have changed a lot I wasn't like this before I was passionate laughing happy enjoying life now I don't enjoy life I don't feel like doing anything every day seems the same nothing excites me. I want to come out of it I am trying to be happy and enjoy but I can't. I don't feel like going out meeting people I love my bed and room.
Can any one help me I am depressed?

My stepdad has me questioning if I'm having a depressive episode/executive dysfunction (I do have ADHD so it is possible to be having executive dysfunction) or if I'm just lazy. It's starting to make me feel even worse. It would make sense if I did have depressive episodes as my dad had (either depression or anxiety which I can't remember which.
If I'm lazy then I hope I can find something to stop myself, if I'm depressed I genuinely don't know what to do. I know my stepdad wouldn't really care/understand.

We people love to relate ourselves into something or someone that we really shouldn't, we compare ourselves into someone that we shouldn't. We never can be satisfied on who we are and what we have. We copy and agree to everything that we became a copy of every other person. If you really want to be happy then be authentic, be proud, be brave no matter how hard life is there's always a good in every bad day. Be on your own pace in life. living life is not a competition it's about living life. enjoy.

In a depressed state a strong sense of guilt for not contributing to your own life, or for not contributing to family and friends in their lives arises. You cry but cannot seem to lift yourself up off the bed for any desirable action. It feels like an invisible prison. You don't want others to get hurt because of your odd behaviour but don't know how to get back to the normal version of you. It feels like you are being punished for just existing.

Somehow I just genuinely forget I struggle with depression on a daily basis cause if Im not crippled on the floor and starving for days on end I just feel lazy cause Im not at rock bottom. Some days it doesnt effect me and Im under the impression that Ive been cured! Then the ebb and flow continues and Im somehow surprised Im feeling down again. Mental illness is crazy. Do you ever truly overcome it or do you just manage it?

I want to send this to my mom because she knows Im depressed and always calls me lazy but I really do try but I just can bring myself to do anything anymore. Im not sure if I should send it to her or not. Im scared she will get mad and even if I do send it she might just keep calling me lazy, and when she does it makes me cry and feel bad about myself. What should I do? Send it? Or no?

I started working a new job back in December. It's my first time working full-time. I always feel tired throughout the day at work and feel too overworked and tired after work to want to go to the gym. I don't know if it's just me being lazy and not motivated enough or just emotionally and physically drained from the day that I can't get the energy to go.

coping strategies if your feeling depressed
1. Stay in touch. Don't withdraw from life
2. Be more active. Take up some form of exercise.
3. Face your fears. Don't avoid the things you find difficult.
4. Don't drink too much alcohol. For some people, alcohol can become a problem.
5. Try to eat a healthy diet.

I think the funniest thing is when people call me a cry baby.
Yet I cannot form tears.
I can't tell if I have depression or lazy. I wanna go to work, but I just can't sleep at night. And play video games all day long. XD wow can I be both.

Is there possibility to have something in between? Sorta like depression spectrum? Cuz the symptoms ring true, but at the same time no 100% and thus I don't have the clearance and continue to question myself whether it's depression or laziness

It is definitely dispiriting when you experience constant trouble with little positivity. It makes accomplishing anything difficult. I suppose that is also based on environment and circumstances.
