I WILL talk about how much money I earn. This myth about not talking about financial matters needs to die.
I don't make much compared to most of my friends and even colleagues, but this is no point of shame for me and them feeling sorry about it or not, doesn't matter to me. Wages need to be discussed because only that way people can find out, what their work is really worth and if they are being compensated fairly in comparison to their co-workers. Don't keep people in the dark. The only one profiting from such a rule are employers who like to pay as little as possible to their employees while raking in massive profits.
Because my colleagues know, how much I earn and I know how much they earn, I am simply in a much better position to negotiate a higher salary or realize, that if I'm not getting compensated fairly, I should apply for a job elsewhere.
Seriously, don't add to this insidious no talking about money fake moral. If you're super rich and don't want to brag, sure, be tasteful about it, but you're probably not an employee and at certain levels of wealth it's kinda obvious that you're rich. But any employee anywhere needs to openly talk about how much they are getting paid for the job they are doing.
In the US (but really, in most countries of the world) you can not forbid (or even fire someone over) discussion of wages:
Under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA or the Act, employees have the right to communicate with other employees at their workplace about their wages. Wages are a vital term and condition of employment, and discussions of wages are often preliminary to organizing or other actions for mutual aid or protection.

yea i agree with alot of the comments that this video was a bit different than usual. but i realized through this that i overshare ALOT and i think it makes people uncomfortable. i never really considered those things before, cause i dont have much of a filter. But people do get uncomfortable when i say Im super broke or i had abusive childhood so thats why i struggle with perfectionism or my partner is an alcoholic. i think for me after years of therapy, its part of showing myself that can see myself clearly and not hide my failures and flaws. but im realizing when you just meet someone isnt really the time for these kinds of topics. i think going forward i will have more success making friends if i can be more private about these kinds of topics, and focus on forming connections by having different kinds of conversations. If the topic comes up in a situation with closer friends, ill share openly. but for small talk i think perhaps i can learn to keep it light. Thanks Psych2Go. People will always have their different opinions but as a content creator, you need to follow your gut in the topics you wanna make. :) keep it up! and challenge those comfort zones for sure why not we need that.

Has THIS ever happened to YOU? People can be shitty sometimes. They might even be shitty TO YOU. gasp
So here's an idea: don't even give them a chance! Nip that shit in the bud! Keep everything bottled up and don't allow ANYONE the opportunity to get to know you on a deeper, more personal level. Push people away through your lack of vulnerability, and you may very well find that you NEVER have to deal with shitty people again! Or ANY people for that matter!
Fears? Hopes? Dreams? Only WIMPS and CHILDREN discuss those silly things! Well-adjusted adults discuss safe, surface-level subjects like the weather or the traffic. This will allow you to live a life of emotional isolation, full of petty relationships with people who don't actually know you or give a shit about you. If you're constantly on guard, there's absolutely NO way in hell that anyone will EVER jostle your comfortable foundation of secrecy. EVER. Hope this helps!

I always had problems in the household, for instance my father and mom just got into a arguement and apparently my father grabbed a machete and tried to swing it at my mom, luckily she dodged it, I heard their arguing downstairs and decided to go to sleep so I won't have to hear it anymore, I was pretty scared but on the outside I expressed no emotions probably because I was used to it, yes I was used to my parents arguing so much that they get in a heated fight and attempt murder, and I just recently noticed I've kept telling my family problems to my classmate, to the point I got worried if I was venting to much on them or making them a therapist for me, so when something bad happens in the household I immediately go to that classmate to tell them about it, I worried alot If i should keep it more private and to myself since I might be annoying them

Yea. My problem is my trauma always made me tell my whole life story. I found a few who can connect who I broke the connection with. For the better of it. Even If I to keep being with them. I felt like I belonged. I felt like I made them belong. I feel sorry for them. They found me, someone they wanted to tell everything themselves to.
I realized that having me as a friend is really great when I choose to be loyal to that person.
I don't judge but I can and will just the right way and so many more roles I am able to play.
I've never really seen this in me ig i always brushed it off. i see now that it's a blessing as much as i think that it's a curse. But more a blessing.
A blessing I won't be able to experience but that's fine.

It saddens me to know how guarded we have to become to sail smoothly through the turbulent currents of this life. Especially for people like me who value authentic and honest relationships, we tend to be naive and too trusting at times. We end up trusting the wrong people and what started out as us being our genuine and straightforward selves ends in us becoming scarred, hurt and closed off. I really wish our human race would be accepting, empathetic and non-judgmental. Because this is not the way to live our lives, guarded and keeping everything in. We were meant to embrace each other's differences and share our gifts. Here's wishing for an inclusive world, a human race that embraces brotherhood and sisterhood. #maybeinutopia #wish #reerai

As a relationship/family counsellor, with 30 years of practise/experience, I would disagree with how this is presented, the all or nothing statements. There is a matter of honesty and transparency necessary for healthy & helpful close relationships-friendships most of the problems and breakdowns people present themselves for arbitrary mediating and counselling has been there have been too many secrets, too much privacy and too many declaring boundaries raising suspicions within peoples relationships and/or true friendships. Anyway the caveat mentioned at the end of the vid I concur each situation needs to be handled in the safest and most honourable way between the persons involved.

This is a very difficult topic! Ultimately all friendships end in betrayal in some form. What we share changes as we get older and as our interests change. Basically I think the video is correct, we do not dignify our standing by having our personal problems made the topic of other peoples idle chit chat. If we have real problems which we don't understand then we need professional counselling; friends are only going to offer gossip, not insight. They do not have the perspective of an experienced counsellor. WHAT do we talk about with our friends? Recreational activities, work experiences and be very careful if the topic becomes work problems.

One girl in my class found out who I like so she asked me:
Do you actually like?
So I had no choice and told her but thank God, shes a very trustworthy person and even in the worst fights she wouldnt tell anyone. We already had a few fights and she never told anyone and shes the only one who knows who I like because I think its very awkward to tell everyone because this information would find a way to him. I actually didnt want to tell anyone but now that she found out Its actually easier and we also made a codename for him so if we talk about him at school no one knows who were talking about.

I don't' know about this one. It can be misleading to people that are afraid to open up. To me it's alright to talk about these thing. I just make sure I don't talk to someone like they are my therapist upon first meeting them. What you have to do is realize that not everyone wants to hear it and look for visual clues that they are not interested. Looking away, yawning. Saying uh huh but not contributing etc. And then don't' give information to people that you don't know that you don't want spread around town cause it may be.

I understand the need to keep these only to those you truly trust, but if you never share these things with anyone then you are going to have some shallow and fake connections Excluding other ppls secret that is a hard never. The extremely deep connections you form where you feel like you can trust each other with anything excluding others ppls secrets again are the best friendships in life. I get the need to be careful with sharing this stuff but sometimes you need to in very deep friendships and relationships.

When it comes to certain situations sometimes it's good to get a different perspective on it from someone who doesn't know you. I remember when I was much younger (like age 11) I would talk with someone who was much older than I was just to get there insight on a situation. It was usually another adult. Dreams and goals this is a broad topic. If you dream of opening a coffee shop. It only makes sense to talk with people who are already in the business. I could go on but it would be too lengthy.

im suffering from lack of friends and people to talk to so bad that i accidentally tell people more about me, because i don't keep things secret if they unless they need to be, i open my mouth too much, see doing it now a little lol. just laugh. thats let to me being annoying and getting bullied but not just because that, my reasoning and opinions and ways of life are so different to everyone and everyone misunderstands me, but God is now changing and teaching me now!

Hi everyone! We have a favour to ask. You may have noticed we released almost over 4 videos recently. The reason we did that was so we can tackle as many topics that were suggested as quickly as possible. But the draw back was that they don't get as much attention that they deserve. Just wondering if you could do us a favour and watch one or two of them and leave a comment in the videos? It would help so much! If you did, let us know so we can thank you below!

I completely agree. Especially, telling about your dreams and goals to others. I have learned that telling your dreams and goals to others invites a lot of negative energy to it. Most of the time, they might, intentionally or unintentionally, bring you down. However, there are people who might encourage you. Therefore, I think it is crucial to know what kind of energy they give before sharing your goals in order to protect yourself.

I had a friend in middle school who was always dragging her family in social settings. It made most of us really uncomfortable because sometimes wed just be hanging out and out of nowhere she would start complaining about how overbearing her parents were and how she hated her siblings. I wouldnt mind if she was venting but it didnt seem to matter where we were or who we were with to her she would always bring it up

I had financial problems for many years and it was horrible for me. I told many people who I thought I could trust and now some of them are not in my life but the ones that stayed are strong. When you tell someone about your issues, I understand that they cannot do a lot for you but just showing support can help build a strong relationship. If they react badly then you don't want that kind of people in your life.

I gotta disagree with the first two.
family issues should be talked about, when you don't, that's how people go through years of abuse. that goes with relationship issues too. unless it is picture perfect, you're going to make someone think that there home life is bad when it isn't, or their going to hide serious issues even more. other than that, I think that this video was really good

I think this is more a matter of telling you to be careful with who you share this stuff with, not so much saying don't tell anyone at all. If you have friends you place a lot of trust in and you feel comfortable confiding in them then by all means, just don't get used to sharing it around everywhere.

Over the past few years, I've been confiding in someone I thought was a good friend who has now ghosted me, taking all my confidences with them. Although it is good to share, be mindful because it can make a friendship toxic - maybe I was too reliant on the good advice and wore them out.

I think this video needs to tweak and nuance who this is directed at and who they are referring in the situations and scenarios. There has to be certain people you discuss your deep dark secrets with, just cant be everyone, not everyone is your friend and not everyone cares.

Use discernment when discussing matters of the heart, and especially your future goals. People who don't have your level of success or don't share your vision, will do everything they can to keep you from reaching your highest heights. Make moves in silence.

I think tell people your dreams and goals are one of the most important things you can do in this world. No one else can help you get there if you keep those to yourself. And getting anywhere in this world alone is very difficult.
