i have an alcoholic father when i was about 7 my mom and my big sister went out to the grocery store while they were out my dad told me and my other sister that if we went to the gas station with him he would get us candy so we went with him we got our candy and our dad got some of these small vodka bottles and he was already drunk before this we got back in the car and we thought we were just going to go home but instead my dad went to a parking lot and blasted his music while crying this went on for like 30 mins me and my sister were begging to go home but he wouldnt listen until finaly we left i will never forget the fear and hopelessness me and my sister felt that day on our way home my dad said not to tell my mom about this and we didnt. another time was when he and my mom were fighting it got out of hand my dad started punching walls and grabbing my moms wrists very hard so my mom called the police i dont know what the police said or what my mom or dad said to the police because me and my sisters were all inside huddled together trying to distract ourselves i mean we were all scared our dad would get arrested but im pretty sure they just told him not to do this again but of course he still did it and my parents still didnt get a divorce after this the still stayed together for another 8 years and that was another 8 years of constant yelling and drunk driving with his own kids i have seen how this trauma has affected me i have depression, anxiety and anger problems but im only 14 and i have told my mom how i feel and she fails to do anything about it.

this example hit me hard.
I got in my first crash getting on a highway exit and ever since then, I have had to avoid highways at all costs. Just the thought of getting on a highway en route to where I have to be is very overwhelming. One time, my roommate asked me to bring him Subway while he was at work and I missed the usual turn I take to his work. The next thing I knew the only other way to his work was on a highway. the entire time I was on the highway for the next three exits I was in a state of panic. hyperventilating, feeling like at any second the car would lose control, and it didn't make it easier for me with it raining. I finally got off the highway and just as I was taking the left at the light and I saw his work, I realized, in my panicked state, I was on the wrong side of the road and there was a blocker preventing me to get back on the right side of the road. I just kept crying and saying out loud, I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! while making sure I was driving as far left as I could so traffic could go around me.
Not too much time later I finally made the turn to the parking lot of his work, parked, and cried for another 5 min. and after I thought I was done and got control again, I entered the store to deliver his food. only for him to ask me if I was okay, making me immediately start uncontrollably crying again.

This is misinformation. CPTSD is caused by multiple traumatic events over a long period of time. A single car accident causing flashbacks and other PTSD symptoms is PTSD. A car accident that causes trauma symptoms that fade over a short period of time is a normal reaction to a traumatic event, and not PTSD. Going with the car accident example- If someone experiences multiple car accidents over a long period of time, they may develop CPTSD. I usually like Psych2Gos videos but this one is all over the place. Yes, CPTSD causes emotional regulation, dissociation, and other issues to a greater degree than PTSD, but all of the symptoms in the video are symptoms of PTSD as well. The difference between PTSD and CPTSD does not have to do with the length of time the symptoms are experienced, but with the amount of traumatic events and severity of the symptoms. CPTSD is harder to treat than PTSD, but all of these signs are common to both conditions. Please do not share this misinformation. This video should be taken down. It is obvious that the creators profoundly misunderstood the differences between PTSD and CPTSD. This video is going to make a lot of people with PTSD think they have CPTSD when they do not.

My trauma stretches well over a
Decade and a few years recently. I can't live. Im worried and if someone brings up a subject that makes me remember the bad times even if the thing is to help u work through it, i am shut down for the rest of the day and the next couple of days. I have crying spells and i can get angry if someone belittles me for what I feel might be traumatizing to me but not for them. I'm usually told just let it go and yada yada yada and it was so long ago. There are times where I feel like I literally could not move my body at all and I will be stuck in that position for at least an hour. I've had disassociation when driving in that is very scary to have. But the worst thing is after your trigger is already came through and you have your safe space you still feeling as you still feel scared you still feel very very vulnerable and people are telling you to feel your feelings. I do not trust my mental state when I'm at that point so at all cost I tried not to feel those feelings otherwise I may act on these feelings.

My dad beat me about once a week or we estimate 832 times. Some wheres about there. I approximately self-medicate with over 90 mg of morphine and I go to work every single day. I haven't talked to my parents in years. I cannot go into public unless I'm heavily sedated. I am 37 and been doing this since I was 18 years old. How old tired I'm worn out. I have attempted suicide more times than I can count. And I weigh about 115 lb s. I haven't spoken to a single family member in years. And I have lost every single one of my friends. The only reason I'm alive today is I have two dogs that I don't want to have anything bad happen to them they are beyond my world so I just keep working at my job keep myself sedated so that I can give them everything once they both pass I'll probably head out too.

Now i'm even more confused about my diagnosis x_x
I've got a C-PTSD diagnosis a while ago. But honestly? I feel more like i Have AD(H)D or burnout than PTSD, especially, bc I can't recall Any trauma. I do have a Concentration Disorder since Kindergarten (they never investigated that further) and due to that I think I've got some problems remembering stuff, but Trauma? There's also no triggers, like, no places I avoid or things i don't do or anything like that. No panikattacks or 'weird feelings about the past'. I also have CFS, which doesn't make things easy but i adapted to that and changed my lifestyle so it goes along with it, why they think i have C-PTSD, no idea, all i wanted to know is why my memory is so bad and why my concentration gets worse. x_x

Im so happy you used car accidents as an example. Ive been told to just get over for years. It goes away but when you get told oh I know what thats like I got rear ended once yes you had issues. I 100% understand you dont mean to be insensitive. That day the fear of losing my mother, pets, life, and new home were horrible. Even after the accident, physical and mental issues follow me. Hell typing this im getting back pain. So that rear ending in a car you had, that you fixed in a quick trip to the mechanic is different. Not one is worse, but they are different and so I how everyone handles it. So thank you for doing car accidents and showing what can happen from it. Its either brushed off or oh Ive done that I know what its like

whenever i hear or see somebody visibly uncomfortable or going through something, it makes me uneasy. i try to distance myself as soon as possible. for example, heavy breathing, or just visible shock from someone else makes me heart pump. an incident with my sister happened a couple months ago and she passed away. i think this is where it stems from. i dont know if it is ptsd, i just remember seeing how my family reacted, and how devastating it was for me and them. i get startled more easily now, and i try to avoid any uncomfortable situation. ive lost my ability to comfort someone in a situation thats stressful for them. i wish i could help them more, but it simply becomes too much for me.

I am a DNA exonery. I was beaten and left for dead. The purps returned to the scene after the police
arrived. I was unconscious. The purps made up a story that I was trying to stab them and it was self defense. I have a criminal record and association with an outlaw motorcycle club. They never bothered to ask me what happened.
So violent crime victim betrayed by people close. Next in prosecuted and held in max security for trial, unjustly.
It was a motion written by me and handed directly to the judge by myself that got the DNA test. When they realized that my accusers were in fact the purps they refused to investigate them.
But hey I only did 13 months of the 15 years.

Trying to force someone into a situation just because you can not understand it does not make THEM a problem. That is not normal behavior. You act like a psycho
Ignoring one's distress is NOT NORMAL and in that situation the traumatized person's reacition is not unjustified
Also your brain is YOU. It does NOT do things that harm it(QUITE OBVIOUSLY)
Trauma is caused by something FORCED ON YOU by the OUTSIDE
THIS is why you can NOT control it/stop it from existing in your brain
It is NOT you

A car accident is the worst possible example for cptsd.
A car accident is a single event, whereas cptsd occurs over multiple, inescapable and cumulative traumatic events over time. Hence it being complex. This is so wrong!
Someone with a history of trauma can develop a worse post traumatic response to a car accident, but it wont be the traumatic event that creates it. So weird to call A car accident something that triggers CPTSD. Please read the actual literature on this phenomena.

My dog died a year ago and if a memory pops up I start feeling sad but not always cry. I cry more easily and sometimes I just cry and I don't even know why. And because of you, I started to understand more about myself. Thank you for all of these videos. You are the best and I feel like we will be the bestest friends even on earth. Again, thank you.

If you have Complex PTSD you may be particularly likely to experience what some people call an 'emotional flashback', in which you have intense feelings that you originally felt during the trauma, such as fear, shame, sadness, or despair. You might react to events in the present as if they are causing these feelings, without realizing that you are having a flashback.

I have CPTSD. I was targeted online by a fake profile pretending to be an artist I follow. They told me to download telegram and asked for a photo, and it got freaky when they said you are beautiful. I like you. I have been feeling very odd, jumpy, and on alert, my chest hurts, and it's hard to breathe like shortness of breath. I am dissociating

My therapist didn't say C-PTSD, but it reminded me of when I was at work. Someone said a guy was looking for me, and my friend said they saw a car that looked like my ex's. I had a mental breakdown. I don't remember crying in the corner in the main office. I felt paranoid. My job sent me home for the day.

What about if things keep happening in your life and they have been for about as long as you've been alive? 17 years old and I still have to deal with things going on. was in therapy but it didn't do anything for me since stuff just keeps happening. And if I go now I can't join the marines-

So what is it called when a subject has experienced trauma that exists from conditions that would be considered traumatic but are not so much as an event but more like an environment where neglect and abuse can occur more frequently and over a longer period of time? What is that called?
