My stepsister is an energy vampire.
She likes to criticize me. Shell make fun of any little thing about my appearance, any one of my interests, or any little thing I do or say.
She also makes fun of other people and entire groups as a whole since she only pays attention to stereotypes. She also makes fun of my dad even tho she doesnt know him.
The worst part is that she always thinks shes victim and will completely ignore anything proving her otherwise. Her parents think shes innocent, especially her mom and it really makes me mad. They have no idea how she really is, shes fake. Her and my brother got into a fight but she provoked him. She went crying to her mom and her mom believed her, making my brother look like the bad guy.
Oh, cant forget her negative energy. I share a room with her and just being around her is suffocating.
Ive lived with her since we were toddlers, shes always been a brat but she thinks that she was a sweetheart. I just cant with her, her presence makes me rage and my energy is drained

I had a friend, who critized people to me all the time. The things he always spoke were always negative. And the people he spoke about were my other friends or my family members. He had always this weird draining charisma, that made me continue to listen to him. I didn't realized this but later, but every time afterwards when we stopped talking, I was very tired, irritated and mentally exhausted. Then I heard he had been talking bad things behind my back, although I though everything was fine between us. When I asked him about this, he denied everything and didn't took any responsibility of his actions. I stopped contacting him over a year ago and I feel so much better now mentally: ) I feel like I escaped the energy vampire and it feels so damn good

I think I had an energy vampire but they didnt fit in any of these categories. But whenever I was around them, I felt like my energy was being sucked out through every conversation. This person used to be close to me until I just couldnt take it anymore and cut ties. This person wasnt necessarily bad, they just took my energy. Once I cut ties, I felt much freer and like a burden has been lifted. I used to worry about this person so much and care so much about this person. Are they an energy vampire or is there another reason why this particular person drained so much of my energy so quickly?

came here because I had a question, but the video is 2 years old. It's signs you hate yourself. One of my friends displays these. How can I help her? I know she has so much potential, if she could just learn to love herself the way me and her friends and family do. I genuinely wish the best for her. We're graduating in May, and then I leave town for college in September. She is not going. How do I help her during the time we have left? She says she has no idea who she is, she says she doesn't have a personality, etc etc

7. The information sucker. Thats my mom (: who has a background in scientific research. Basically, she keeps asking you QUESTIONS and tires you (me) out. Then she does nothing whatsoever to help your (my) situation. Its great that theres at least one person who still wants to know stuff, but its mentally tiring. I just cut her off and ask her to ask about it during dinner time, sorta the ask me during office hours approach. Of course, she usually forgets what she asked about by then and we watch fireplace videos. :P

I have a friend who whenever i talk to them, all of my energy is just. gone? like i could be extremely happy and willing to talk to people, then when i talk to them i dont have any energy to do anything at all. But they dont match anything on this list, closest might be 3: 52 (Fake friend in need) but they arent faking anything, they just act like i need to fix their problems or else im a bad person.

Y'know I thought energy vampires were the types who keep droning on about anything and everything and give you no opportunity to add anything, next thing you know you've been sitting around listening to someone drone on about one thing for 2 hours and you're too tired to do anything the rest of the day. For example Colin Robinson. I didn't realize there were so many types.

Funny how I've always had the freeloader, fake friend in need and dominating one in my life but I just put a name on them through this video
I sometimes felt drained just from being around them
In these cases boundaries are a necessity
Once I set boundaries, it reduced by a lot

I have a friend who is really introverted. I'm his best friend, so he always wants to spend time with me. There is nothing wrong with that, but I just can't say that I want some alone time afraid that I might hurt him. I'm not sure, if there is something I should do about it.

I feel bizarrely emotionally drained whenever I talk to my parents on the phone. Phone convos just feel inauthentic to me. It's fine when I talk in-person, but maybe it's because I only talk to them about issues that have popped up in my life, and they vent to me.

I used to have these kinds of people in my life almost throughout my school life. I've cut them all off now, and much better now. Some people in college are the same, but I'm going to establish strict boundaries with them too. THANKYOU SO MUCH Psych2go!

I might be an chronic critic Im trying my best to help it by asking those Im close to if my comments of what I see as constructive criticism and jokes to them ever make them sad I really hope I dont exhaust the people around me

I am a male borderline and with borderlines the energy is two-fold: if we are euphoric, we can spark energy in others and become a joy to hang around with, if we are depressed or down, we suck all the energy of a room into our abyss.

So far Ive met the fake friend, issue maker, and self victimizer in my life. Luckily Ive cut two of them off and the other one Im trying to get rid of by keeping good boundaries; so shell take the hint hey I dont want to talk to you.

My classmates were the fake friends in need. They used my good nature to get what they wanted, they silenced my power, I let them win because I was too frightened to stand up to them.
reply

Energy vampires definitely exist.
But the truth is, energy is abundant all around us. If you're relying to much on other people's moods to feel good, you may be the vampire!

Im afraid to be called the freeloader and the fake friend in need so j dont ask for help, which causes me to be even more Stuck, and need even more help.

I'm the issue maker to everyone but I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I don't even think that it would be a mess they just need to help me cleaning the debris.

Is it bad that my dad is all of these? And I can't get away as I have BPD, depression, and anxiety, and I can't live by myself as I'm too scared.
reply

I would like to think there are more than just negative energy vampires like the kind that just drain your physical not your mental and emotional

I am really sensitive and cry very often, but I never want people to help me, I just want to deal with it alone. Am I an energy vampire?
