Why 2000 People Died Fighting Over a Bucket Most wars are waged over very small issues. WW2, for example, was a rebellion against the strict (and totally bullying) terms of the Treaty of Versailles. -
The American Revolution was fought because the Prime Minister, Grenville, basically gave the colonies the finger. The colonies DIDNT want to go to war, they wanted to settle their differences with the Crown, and remain loyal subjects (for the most part - there are always rebels. Grenville basically told them that it was his ball so they could play the game his way or slit their throats. -
In those days, that was a challenge that could not be dismissed, so they were forced to fight.

This reminds me of the -Guerra de los pasteles- (war about cakes) in my country. It sounds silly if you go by the anecdote of France declaring war to Mexico because some people caused damages to the bussiness of a French baker.
What actually happened is that the tension was high between Mexico and France prior to the incident amd France saw it as an attack to one of their own. After some failed negotiations (Mexico rejected some of the terms France wanted) the war started and it lasted almost a year.

The Battle of Zappolino, the only battle of the War of the Oaken Bucket, was fought in November 1325 between forces representing the Italian towns of Bologna and Modena, an incident in the series of raids and reprisals between the two cities that were part of the larger conflicts of Guelphs and Ghibellines.

how to start ww3
1: make a well with a bucket
2: wait until somebody takes it
3: declare war on the country the person who stole it lives
4: wait until for another country to join
5: win

reply

Sure, the Holy Roman Empire cared more about their bucket than anything else.
But they also fought mostly because the Holy Roman Empire tried to protect their land from the Roman rebellions.

You would think that fighting a war over a bucket is crazy, but then you hear a war humans fought with emus and lost and you figure crazy is engrained in our DNAs

2: 05 if you find yourself as the head of a barely legitimate government and you start getting into hot water
Start a war to distract everyone from their miseries

To be fair, it really wasn't about the bucket itself. There were already high tensions and the bucket was merely an excuse to do what was already wanted anyway.

you usually make good videos but this video is so full of errors, the bucket was stolen at the end of the war and is not the cause of the war.

Bruh if you think this is bad wait til you hear about the entirety of brazilian history, my favorite is the war of Canudos (straws)

This just proves Europeans will go to war over anything and everything. If nukes didn't exist, we'd probably be on World War 5 by now.

If you ever feel bad about your life: remember a war was fought over a bucket and the Australians lost a war to emus.

The War of the Bucket wasn't fought over a bucket being stolen. The bucket was taken as a trophy AFTER the war.
reply

Check your facts. The war was actually fought over territory. The bucket was taken after the battle as a trophy.

So they weren-t fighting over a bucket. They were fighting over papal supremacy vs the emperor-s power.

Hardly and of the images (and all of the music) are even related to the actual history of this war.
