What's the Longest Straight Line You Can Sail Without Touching Land? I had my worst dream today. It was I was stuck in a dark room with only a door which had a few windows on it for light. But when people came near the door and I screamed, they did not notice at all. I was also with a few people in that room which were much older than me. In the end of the dream we managed to get out by guessing names for some reason. I and a few other of the people stuck in the room were teleported in a circle and we had to guess words to get out. I managed to get out. That by far was the longest and worst dream, even worse than the one my whole city got flooded in water. I missed a few details but that what it really was

Go kayaking on point Nemo and paddle from there to Murica.
And yes, that passage between South America and Antarctica is extremely rough, it's called Drake Passage and it's the roughest. Mainly because it doesn't encounter any land anywhere it's a full circle of water and there are high winds.

What RLL fails to realize is that you can do this the other way around.
Preperation for the winter, the ocean rips the boat to shreds, before you pass through the pirates and ends in pretty comfortable weather.

Great circles aren't straight lines, you need to change course for that to work. A true straight line on a sphere is actually a rhumb line, which isn't straight at all.

You would land just a little bit in the New Zealand claim of Antarctica. I have a book that shows where all the different claims of Antarctica are located at.

This record is broken by newly discovered straight line in ocean from western Canada to eastern Canada which is about 3600 kms longer than this one.

0: 15 bruh I live in Lancashire, England and my nearest beach is Blackpool, so the chances are it'd either be Wales or Ireland. Either way not very far

Before the hate comments start pouring in, no place on the surface is truly flat. Man knows there will be flat earthers in the comments -

not only can you get directly from Norway to antarctica, you can do the same from Belgium! Zimbax made a great demonstration video on this.

I love how that -What is the actual shape of earth? - at 7: 21 when the ad began got this video a context warning about flat earth

Saying straight line is redundant. All lines are straight. A line connects 2 or more points. If it's not a line it's a curve.

I wonder what the optimal algorithm is for finding the longest uninterrupted straight line on an arbitrary map is

The Norway to Antarctica ne doesn't end at the part which nobody claims, it ends at the New Zealand claim.
