The number 9 is considered unlucky in Japan because the Japanese word for it is pronounced almost identically to a word that translates into English, depending on who you ask, to mean either -pain- -suffering-, or -misery-. A number I would argue is cursed is 17927 which had been the ZIP-code of Centralia, Pennsylvania, which was virtually reduced to a ghost-tone by an underground coal-fire. The ZIP-code was revoked by the US Postal Service in 2002. Apparently the number 43 in Japan is considered especially unlucky with regard to pregnant women because its name is pronounced almost identically to the Japanese term for a stillbirth.

The ancient Greeks also believed in the number 13 being bad luck, because they were always careful to make sure that there could only be 12 gods in their pantheon. So Hades -the 13th god-despite being part of the big 3 because an outcast. He did at least have all underground areas under his domain though so it wasn-t all bad.

In the Philippines, there is 666 as a radio AM band frequency which is DZRH because until 1975 it was 650 but it was changed to the present AM frequency in 1975 due to broadcast change but despite of the number is representing the devil, DZRH 666 was still number 1 radio station in the Philippines in several years

The numbers 4, 13, & 17 are connected to the number 666. The number 666 is mentioned in Revelation chapter 13 verse 18. In Revelation chapter 13 verse 17, you cannot buy or sell without the number 666. In Revelation chapter 20 verse 4, those who do not receive the number 666, will be beheaded.

The Chinese didn't choose 2008 because 4 was unlucky. They chose it because 8 is lucky. I think it was supposed to sound similar to their word for wealth. That's why the Olympics started on August 8, 2008, at 8: 08 so they could get as many 8's as possible

If the problem was that it sounds like the word -death- then they should just rename the number 4 to something else, instead of doing all those stuff just to avoid saying it, and being all superstitious lol. Its one of my favorite numbers tbh.

If you think this is creepy, wait until you add up the digits in the launch date (4/11/70.
EDIT: This is stretching it, but they launched from Pad 39A, and 39 is divisible by 13.

-RealLifeLore do you think 2004 2013 2017 and maybe 2066 might be terrifying years maybe 2020 was a scary year too
reply

The number nine is also unlucky in Japan because it sounds like 'suffering'. So don't wear your 49'ers jacket in Japan.
