When he told me that he still loved me, but much lesser because of everything wrong that had happened between us, it broke me, it felt like my world fell apart, because the person whom I thought would love me as much as I did, said something that devastating, he was everything to me, I was loyal only to him, I thought we would marry soon, but there were too many promises he couldn't keep. I got tired of understanding his circumstances. I can't say I didn't play a part in what failed there, i was willing to accept the things I didn't like about him. But when I thought he would fight to have me back in his life, he said his feelings for me had lessened. It woke me up, the things I didn't like were a sign, that this person is not right for me. So, even if we were together for a decade, I broke up with him. I think about him every now and then, every once in a while, I know he still keeps tabs on my daily life. But I'm slowly getting a lot better now.

i went through this. mentally and physically hardest thing was for me the grief. It chaged me as a person but it left also a literally broken heart. I lost first my dog, that was like my child, but then before i even got pass the grief i lost my lifepartner to cancer, i kinda died at that point myself. my mother had to make sure i actually eat and take care of myself. I coudnt even keep my eyes open i was so exhausted with pain and grief. i thought i literally have heart attack, it lasted very long time, for years. I had to start learning how to live again and breath again. but all that prolonged mental stress and pain left me with a heart defect, my heart reacts to mental pain and its not normal anymore. I dont know how i survived that pain but this is why im still single 8yrs later cuz i dont think i can go through another pain like that, im literally aftraid id drop dead. my body cannot take any more stress or mental pain.

Broken heart syndrome differs based on gender. Women tend to recover much faster than men after losing their romantic partner. My grandfather's health declined dramatically after my grandmother died and he died exactly one year after she died. The doctors said that he died from broken heart syndrome, but I don't believe that is the case. My grandmother died early because she took on multiple people's burdens, especially my grandfather's. She was his effective carer, cooking and cleaning for him (an able-bodied man) for decades while taking care of the children alone and working a high-stress job to provide for her family. Did he die from broken heart syndrome or did he die because he lost his effective carer and suddenly had to take care of himself

When my bf broke up with me, who I don’t even know if he liked me deeply or wanted something more, he said so himself he just wanted to see where things go when we first started dating, I became depressed and bed ridden for half a year, cried every day and developed insomnia of staying up late until 6-8 in the morning and living in what I feel like was limbo / the Twilight Zone. and after that half a year I felt better but the effects of the pain aka the bad habits were still there and I’ve been struggling to get myself back into normal routine life again. Impacted me from then til now and it’s been a year and a half. We dated for two months. But it was my fault for getting too attached.

On February 12, 2018, I went to my doctor after my night shift at work reporting strange tightness in my chest, which I had heard was a heart attack symptom. He ran an EKG and was so perplexed by the results that he sent me to the hospital. When they ran their test, they were equally flummoxed. Only after learning that I had just lost my best friend were they finally able to conclude that I had broken heart syndrome. As a man in my mid-20s, my case was extraordinarily rare. They kept me in the hospital for a week, but I was eventually given a clean bill of health. Psychologically, however, my broken heart never actually recovered.

The most terrifying part of grief isn't the emotional pain, it's how quickly it dismantles your physical health. Stop at 00: 45 The widowhood effect because everyone misses how extreme it is that a person's risk of dying can increase by up to 90% in the three months following their spouse's death. It is wild to learn that severe depression is linked to higher levels of inflammatory proteins that actively impair your immune system. How exactly does the brain biologically signal the immune system to produce these specific inflammatory proteins during acute grief, and are there ways to artificially block that response

My parents had been together for over 60 years, and during that time, I doubt there was a single day where they did not spend some time together. After a long illness, mum died. 12 weeks later, dad died. Well, he died inside on the day that we scattered mum's ashes. He remained as a shadow for the next weeks. He had rarely been ill before, but he seemed to catch everything. I was with him when he had the stroke. He died the next morning of a heart attack. Even the doctor said to me that he had died of a broken heart. The love of his life had gone. He had no reason to stay.

My mother had a minor cardiac event in the summer of 2021 and I witnessed it. At the hospital they were able to stabilize her, and when she met with the doctor he asked if she had any major or traumatic events happen recently. Eight months prior my half-sister died in her sleep from an accidental overdose at age 43. It was a devastating loss for my family, and I think losing her eldest daughter had a permanent effect on her health, as more issues came up, and eventually she died in hospice care in 2024.

One time I endured a horrible breakup. And it wasn't anything much in hindsight, I mean I was and still am pretty young. But when it happened I felt this HORRIBLE chest pain and sense of urgency in me. I felt like I was going to die, emotionally and physically. I was fine, and I still am fine to this day. Thankfully I got over it and all is well with me. But after that I do not discredit the impact of a broken heart on people. Had I been older or maybe in a deeper crisis I may not have lived through that.

I was terrified this would happen when my Papa passed - I was so worried my Oma be right after him, and I think that’s what she would have wanted. She’s still here, and I worry. But I think Papa died from a broken heart - he passed only a couple months after he and my Oma lost their home on the family farm in a fire that burnt their home to the ground, two weeks before Christmas. He tried to adapt, but I think it was just too much. Losing both of them would have done me in, too.

Sometimes, for a lot of people, it NEVER gets better, only worse and worse by the day. The ones who it gets better for are lucky. For most of us we just get shut out and ignored because the rest of the world is too uncomfortable to admit that many of us will never get the life we deserve. People want to believe in meritocracy and time heals all wounds BS. Time is SALT IN YOUR WOUND. This will only change when society as a whole changes and puts the good of the people ahead of all else.

To help lighten the mood of this video I have a joke.
There was a widow who went to lay flowers on her husband's grave every day, she would then walk backwards out of the graveyard.
After so many days the gravekeeper finally asked her why she keeps walking backwards out.
She responds that her husband always told her she had such a nice rear that it could raise the Dead, and she fears that if she walks out properly the whole graveyard will come up.

There was an 18 year old who suddenly dropped dead after a big, happy shock a few years ago. He was Mormon, and all his family were sent to Tokyo for their 2 year mission. He was so worried he wouldn't be able to go, but according to his family, as soon as he opened the letter and saw he was selected to go to Tokyo, he immediately died. They gave him good CPR right away and got him into a hospital within a few minutes, but nothing could be done and he died.

My cousin actually died from a broken heart. It’s sounds crazy, but it really is possible. Her husband died in a sudden accident and the grief was so overwhelming her heart gave out. She was hospitalized and her heart finally stopped. She kept saying before she died about how she couldn’t handle the pain. She literally died of a broken heart. They did indeed diagnose it in the hospital as Takatsubo cardiomyopathy.

Probably it's not the same, but when my ex-wife told me (without saying that explicitly) that she didn't love any more, I felt my heart ripping in two. A terrible physical sensation. That day I learnt that a broken heart is not figurative, it is a reality.
That day changed my life, leaving a scar that will never heal. Even today, when writing this, tears appear in eyes and I feel my chest compressing.

I went through a breakup when I was young that felt unbearable. I had chest pain, panic, and honestly felt like I was falling apart emotionally and physically.
I am okay now, but that experience taught me not to dismiss heartbreak. It may look small from the outside, but for someone in a deeper crisis, emotional pain can feel devastating.

My grandfather passed shortly after my grandmother left. They had been married for a long time. Today is their wedding anniversary. While we mis them and remember them everyday, it is comforting to know they are now together in some other world. It is a loss for us people who are left behind. It is liberating for people who leave this world.

As someone who assisted couples throughout their life, often it seems explainable.
If one is the carer for the other, when the cared for one dies, the other is so physically and mentally exhausted they slip into the grave with them.
Caring is a 24 hour 7 day a week job and it often takes a deep toll on the person.

I had my heart broken before and my brain felt like it struck lightning and it made me feel like I'm losing part of myself.
The heart felt so heavy.
I cried a lot.
But then again. I didn't die of heart broken.
I did wish though that I should be dead by now, but I survived.
