I'm from Russia. I love my country very much. I am very sorry that it is now in the power of bandits, for 20 years. We do not have freedom of speech, poverty, living standards, as in Africa, and the number of rich people - in fourth place in the world. The whole country is being robbed. And it is not clear when it will end: (

Reading it right now. When I got to the part about the letter from his mother, about his sister, I was totally hooked.
Just read the part when the child embraces him for helping the family after his drunk father is run over by a horse and cart and subsequently dies - so touching.

From dank taverns to dilapidated apartments and claustrophobic police stations, the underbelly of 19th century Saint Petersburg is brought to life by Dostoyevskys searing prose.

I had the Classic comicbook. That was my only source of the story. I was six years old and found the comic boring. That book has been long gone from my life.

Im not really sure what I thought Crime and Punishment was about, but for some reason I always thought it was similar to Pride and Prejudice.

Sounds like a lot of books, movies, manga, etc wouldn't exist without this archetype. I immediately thought of Death Note.
