Discover what causes acid rain, and how scientists were able to largely eliminate this major environmental threat. In 1963, scientists studying Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest made a shocking discovery. Their most recent rainfall samples were nearly 100 times more acidic than usual; which could destroy the area s ecosystems in a matter of decades. What was causing this deadly rainfall? And what could be done to stop it? Joseph Goffman details how scientists transformed this major threat into a minor issue

I dont need to even watch the video to answer this question. In my country there are a lot of coal power plants in one area near mountains. Acid rain there destroyed all trees and most of the small plants too, also springs there got poisiond so you cant rly drink water from most of them. It has been years since ppl actually started to do things with it, but in some of mountain area you can still see just dead nature.

As a kid we were so afraid of acid rain. Never hear about it now. When I mentioned it to my kids they were gobsmacked and couldn't believe it. The 100 (show on tv) had dealt with acid rain like what we feared would happen back in the 80z. I'm glad you made this vid. I didn't have any answers for the kids about how come we don't hear about it now.

What a cool video! My country largely avoided the problem of acid rains by having most of our power come from hydroelectric damns, but acid rains is a problem we should always be on the look out, so that the consequences are never impossible to deal with

Tried this bs back in the 70ds and it's a wash and repeat topic of political interest, making strawman arguments that have no scientific bases. All for propaganda to derive tax dollars from low information voters!

Is it possible to get carbon in air be under pressure so that it rains Diamonds? Can you guys ask Saturn how he does it? He probably just has Carbon's friends in air giving him peer pressure.

I always thought of acid rain as one of those phrases that mean something bad but just sound so nice like picture golden droplets just falling from the heavens but alas tis not the case.

In India, air pollution is a big problem but specifically acid rain is not a big issue as pH level of Indian soil is on the higher side. So ironically acid rain helps our Indian soil.

OH NO! ACID RAIN IS BACK! The 90's are back folks! Be Afraid! Next it'll be killer bees from South America, Gen Xers were raised on this play book, even those in northern Ontario!

Scientists: Acid rain harms and we have evidence to prove that it comes from your air pollution.
Companies: That is not our problem and there is no acid rain to begin with.
