Dig into the science of soy, and discover what makes soybeans such versatile plants and whether it s healthy for you and the planet. Soybeans have been cultivated in Asia for thousands of years, and have since spread across the globe. Today, soy is in so many foods that most people consume it every day without even knowing it. This video is a stain on TED-Ed's reputation. It plays like a puff-piece for the food industry. Do some research people - soy is not harmless, nor nutritious. It's one of the biggest contributors to type 2 diabetes in the world. It's a rubbish food and you should get away from it as much as possible. I won't launch into a big treatise on the matter here, but I encourage people to treat soy with extreme scepticism and do your research. You'll be shocked at what you discover. Ted-Ed should not present unresearched information in its videos. Shame on you, Ted-Ed.

Shree, Venkatesha Charanam Saranam Prapathye
Shree Venkatesha: I'm going to stand here on the tirumala hills forever to protect my devotees in this unholy Kali yuga.
For a devotee who have complete faith in my holy feet am here to take care of him her and his her entire family during all the times they pass through the problems of this inhuman world.
As long as my devotees have complete faith in me I will not allow the flood waters of this Bhava Sagara ocean of problems go beyond their hip level.

Soy is very bad for your body in the case that it changes the hormones in your body making men have more estrogen which is terrible. At the rate which people eat soy it won't be long before all our men turn into fruit cakes which leaves us with no leadership. It also will mess with emotion meaning that you will have lower lows and higher highs which is terrible for any sort of stability.

I think it's remiss to not mention that more than three quarters of the soy we grow is fed to livestock to produce meat and dairy. The root issue here is not the soy production, which is actually one of the most efficient ways to feed livestock, but in the fact that we produce so much meat and dairy. Somewhat disappointed in the misleading portrayal of this system.

They forgot to mention that soy beans have been genetically modified by the government. This doesn't exactly make it fit for consumption for us & our cattle. This was actually what the Montesano is involved with. For a more detailed explanation of what's being put in our food, please watch the documentary Food Inc.

It should be known that most soy plantations are farmed to feed livestock. We wouldn't need nearly half of the plantations that exist if it were not for the massive amounts of animal products that are consumed regularly.

Imagine how many people we could feed with all the soy we produce if meat consumption was drastically lowered. So much of the energy we produce in soy is lost when we feed it to animals.

good video, my answer to the sustainability issue would be veganism as so much soy is fed to cows, pigs and chickens, most the soybeans eaten by humans in the UK are grown in europe

best way to get some of these proteins without eating meat
Plant Protein > Animal Protein
Animal Protein comes from Plant Protein
Cutout the middle man!
