In the far-flung reaches of Siberian Russia theres a place unlike any other on earth. A place nine times zones from Moscow. A place so far east its almost west. A place called Kamchatka, the snowbound Eden. One hundred thousand lakes; 300 geysers; 414 glaciers; 100 volcanoes all crammed into a peninsula the size of California. But its also a nuclear no-go zone. Off-limits to the world for most of the 20th century. In fact, more Americans have been into outer space than have crossed Kamchatka in the last hundred years. Its into this unforgiving icebox cold corner of the world that David Adams goes in search of the last of the Itelman, the semi-legendary wild men of Siberias Far East

Very nice program. I have to say, though, the Soviet-style snow mobile is comical. They seemed to have everything we did, but its as if an effort to make theirs look like beta versions at best. From planes to snow mobiles, everything looked like it was on the verge of either breaking or not being functional in the first place.

Disappointed. I stuck with your vid to the end, fast forwarding over some segments, of course. and inm the end I was not brought into any Itelman villages and did not see any Itleman people. Guess I shall have to look for another video. Otherwise, I enjoyed the 50 minutes of video of a place I shall never see.

After watching his Sahara episode, I was less than impressed watching him skiing down the worlds tallest sand dune. But on real snow, on a blue bird powder day, high up in the Kamchatca mountains - Dude can Rip!

Sorry bt the back drop of jazz/rap and serene music with narration at te same time ruined an otherwisw interesting presentation. Dont be afraid of silence or simplicity Every moment does not have to be filled

Vitamin C can be gained by eating offal. Liver and kidneys are a good source do a carnivore diet is possible.
Who would have thought, global warming could be a good thing. They can then grow veggies

And this dude has had all kinds of adventures he never filmed. A life well lived! A true planet belonger. Travel like this always sows wisdom and less prejudice. Great shows. Thanks. From Canada.

Interesting but hasn't there been subsequent archaeological discoveries pointing to the fact that there was humans on the continent prior to the migration across the alutian peninsula

As a Canadian who regularly sees -30c up to even -50 without windchill and plenty of snow. I'm kinda jealous of a tank ride lol, as a big fan of anything with a motor this is awesome

I was born in Kamchatka, It's a beautiful place. The history, culture, and geography is rich, and people lovely. It will always have my heart! Thank you for documenting it.

I don't think its fair that he keeps blamimg the Soviets for eradicating cultures. The Australians wiped out aboriginies, and the British most of the old world sooooo.

May sound like grim joke, but does anyone know where were these people sent as a punishment during 30'onward? no to Kamchatka obviously as it s their natural habitat.

Id so love to see the Kamchatka Peninsula, Petropavlov, the old Cold War town, then Primorsky Krai around Vladivostok, the Primorsky temperate rainforests, etc.

Would have loved to see Kamchatka in the summer, too bad the showrunners wanted to play up the frozen waste aspect of what is clearly heavily forested: /

Those people need a greenhouse to grow some veggies for themselves. Putin, get on it! Make some reparations for those people! Its a small price to pay.

Not great. Perfect example of Anglo-Saxon centric views washed away by the events of 2020. Hope this dude wises up to his evangelical outlook.

As an American from the South that studied Native Americans at length in school, this was fascinating on so many levels. Thank you so much!

You live and learn that it's best not to yearn for too much if it's not meant to be; I'm glad it was him out there and not me.
