My humble opinion is that interfamilial breeding caused some of these female rulers to be on the crazy side. The other factor is that in this male ruling world in which first, women had no say in anything, unless they were the ones in chargeand some had more wherewithal than their kings/emperors. They had to be ruthless to survive and get anything done to be considered by the all-male council (whatever the term used for the aides to the ruler) as competent. Killing in the name of religion, is a crazy thing to do and religious persecution is as old as humanity. I mean we as a species, have always fought some war in sime silly principle.

I'm sorry but you and so many other historians need to rego over the Chinese queen Wu Zetian the whole she murdered her own daughter has been shown to be factually inaccurate the oldest recording facts or records about her baby's death just says that it died shortly after childbirth which is very common in antiquity did she play The Royal game of chess yes but she was by no means cruel or unfair compared to the f cannibal and sincerely like all of the records of her being this cruel evil woman was written years after her death by weak egoed males

Too bad you forgot Ranavalona 1, considered as a very brutal queen because she have killed 70% of the population of Madagascar and to prove your loyalty, you had to eat raw chicken skin and puke three times. She also persecuted protestants by throwing them from the Rova and expelled Europeans from the island. She also threw her mother in jail and let her die of extreme starvation. Still a nice video though!

When it comes to Wu, Chinese historians were outraged more at the idea of a woman being ruler than anything else. Corruption involving family and favorites? Cruelty to perceived enemies? Check, but no more than any other (male) ruler of China, past or present, and vastly better a ruler than Empress Cixi.

You forgot the best part of Saint Olga's wrath! She asked for three sparrows from every Drevilan household as a tribute to end her siege. and then had her army strap smoldering sulfur to the birds and set them free so they would fly back to their nests and end up setting the houses on fire.
