Most people put on their outfits every day without questioning the history of clothing as they do it. You're clearly not one of these people, since you've landed on this page! Here's a list of things we still wear today and why we started wearing them. The history of clothing is a very strange story with a lot of twists and turns

I think I hate bras. Worst invention ever. You know how difficult it is to whether or not the girl youre looking at is worth the effort? Its the worst in the summer because you can almost see whats really going on but not really. Why cant all women live like those tribal ladies? Do us all a favor and ditch the bras. Just kidding.

Last night I was watching The Crown and thought to myself when did we transition from the frufru 1700s to the more modern pant suits of the 1800-1900s. So I told myself tomorrow look it up today I didnt have to cause you popped up

I wear unions suits now. yea they have draft spots, but the buttflap is like a stinky equivalent of the fly on the front of jeans. you dont have to expose the whole upper lower body to a chilly bathroom

Whale bone corsets are surprisingly comfortable. They allow the wearer to use it as a resting form, without losing their shape or hunching down. If properly fitted, they do their job without pain.

The true origin of the necktie is the slave collar of the ancient Greeks and Romans.
That way, Vendors and others in the marketplace would know whose slave they shouldn't mess with.

And the bra was called a tool of male oppression? Jeez it was invented by a woman! For SUPPORT! How ignorant are people, sheesh I never judged it but I am happy to know the facts. Thanks

OMG. I have been into fashion since elementary school. I went to college for fashion design and found this so informative and entertaining!

Disappointed by the misleading info about corsets which is now making me doubt a lot of the other info here: /

WH: If you stop to think about it, everything your wearing head to toe was invited by somebody.
Me: naked.

So it looks like we can blame Croatia for men's ties! Definitely among the most useless garments ever!

Shame they didn't touch on the fact that the stylish, amazing fedora was originally a hat made for women.

Grandad always taught me that the victorian men used to wear top hats because it kept their heads cool.
