Heterogeneous vs Homogeneous
- What do we mean when we say heterogeneous and what do we
mean when we say homogeneous? Homogeneous means the items
in a collection are all of the same type and heterogeneous means the
items in a collection can be of different types. From earlier we mentioned
that lists are usually homogeneous while tuples are usually heterogeneous.
- Given here is an example of a homogeneous collection where all the
items are of the same type, that is all items are strings. So in this
code we have a list of school items and if we want to lets say store
the number of pieces available for each item here, we can then use a
tuple as follows. So now we have a list of tuple pairs and each tuple
stores a string type and an integer type.
Dictionary
- We now move on to a more general type of collection which is called
a dictionary. a dictionary is like a list but as mentioned it is more
general in a list the indices are always integers in a dictionary they
can be almost any type instead of a sequence of numbers to index
the elements like in lists and tuples dictionaries are indexed by
so-called keys.
Indexing by keys
- keys can be of string type or float type or tuple but they cannot be of
type list so why not because a key must be immutable so a dictionary
is essentially a collection of key value pairs the key and value are
separated by column where the key is provided first and then the
value after so dictionaries are declared. after so dictionaries are

I know that a short video couldn't possibly include all the facts in Lego history, but several really important features you could address in the future are: 1 some other important building sets and their timelines compared to Lego, such as Lincoln Logs, Erector sets and a block set I had as a child in the forties with red bricks, white trim bricks, windows, doors, etc. for making and designing houses. 2. the use of tiny Lego bricks in the field of architecture 3. The astoundingly large population of AFOLs (Adult Fans of Lego, which have international chapters which must be approved by Lego, and account for countless purchases, conventions, displays, etc. Many AFOLs have basements, etc. full of Lego parts in drawers and bins, which they use to make MOCs (my own creation) for those conventions and displays.
It would be great to see an ACTUAL timeline of Lego history along with other building sets history.

The issue I have with the Lego company is more the modern sets. They are too specific, and yes I know they are themed in most cases, but the creative options with some of the more modern kits (meaning kits made since about 2000-2010 or so) are too limiting. I remember growing up and all we had were the square and rectangular legos. I also felt that the Lego Technic brand was also unique and very interesting, but it seems that Lego gave into big marketing and when they started licensing things like Star Wars and other popular kids movies and TV shows, thats when the true original Lego died. Yes you can still buy a bucket of generic legos (the original square and rectangular ones) but I feel that while the kits may have been successful, they limited the creativity in away too because the bricks were too specific, like a windshield for an airplane or a car.

I was born in 1942 in America. I don't remember Legos growing up. My favorite building toy was Lincoln Logs. They were limited because of there design, but with a child's imagination, I could entertain myself on a rainy or snowy day.
In those days we really didn't play with toys. Instead, we kids of the neighborhood played outside until it got dark and it was time for bed. No one had money for toys, so we made out own out of whatever we could find.
Because of my experience in using your imagination to make up games and toys, I am concerned about today's youth. Spending hours in front of a screen that provides every thing for you playing would take away the imagination of play. Bones don't grow stronger without physical activity, to name just one physical and medical problems from sitting for hours staring at a screen.

When I was about 10 or 11, I had this SpongeBob SquarePants lego set, the whole complete set was sold in separate little sets obviously. The one I had was a really big model of SpongeBob SquarePants and a big model of his Pineapple house. And I thought that was the coolest thing ever at that age. But I also remember when I was really little, I had some of my brothers old legos and they were the ones that encouraged you to learn how to build whatever you wanted and they were the reusable kind. And those will always be my favorite. Over the SpongeBob model, over the Star Wars models I had, etc etc. youve gotta be creative and its sad to see all these companies that used to be so cool selling out and just making whatever for profit, rather than coming up with these unique, fun, creative sets they used to come up with. Its sad.

I had my Legos, and Mom had the Sunset book California is Earthquake Country, so I loved to build 19th Century commercial buildings, and strike them with earthquakes. As I grew older they gave me some Techmics sets, but I really wanted basic red blocks, and arches, to cap off pilasters of those buildings I liked. My sister was into the idea of nursing at an early age, so I had a self designed hospital I would make for her at times. I shared my/our Legos, but was also possessive of them until I wasn't, when I went college? I kept them in a big 4 gallon tin drum that had caramel popcorn initially. I like to design & build stuff today.

The woman who tried to get rid of licensed sets is clearly just another busybody with no clue whatsoever. The few licensed Lego sets I had never lived longer than a week, before I modified them into something else. The spirit of Lego is worthless if the company goes bankrupt and dies. Not to mention how many unique parts came with the licensed products. Licensed products forced Lego to innovate with its pieces to solve unique challenges, to enter new dimensions.

Very interesting. I also agree with the mother tbh. I love buyin the lego themed sets. But once I make them, I never wanna take them apart. Which has kinda killed the original joy of Lego. When I was a kid just randomly building with all my pieces. Now I just buy a set, build it and display it. Sometimes play with it a bit. Definitely lost of the soul of endless possibilities and become more of a one time use for the most of it's enjoyment

The OG founder, going through many complications and hardships, knew he had a destiny:
To DESTROY COMPLETELY the soft feet and toes of every parent in the world!
I still remember my parents walking like cats on pillows to avoid our room full of Lego parts. My brother would build, I would brake the sets and scatter the fragments, and our parents would pay the heavy cost, haha!

Been a huge lego technic fan since the early 90s when at age 7 my aunt bought me a little technic race car that had steerable front wheels. After that I WAS HOOKED. Eventually having around 40k pieces full of pneumatics & lots of gears (all sorts of pieces) allowing to build cranes over 10ft tall. Lego technic taught me ALOT!

BILOfix was a top notch toy, in my opinion. I still use it to this day for fast prototyping of an idea.
I must add that the feel of the beechwood struts is like silk under your fingertips. The system also comprised of plastic gears (including bevel gears) and chains.
A quality toy that is no longer

I would like to hear about the chatty Cathy doll! My mom use to talk about hers. She got it back in 1957, she had it up till her baby brother took it apart to see how it was talking. So I would love to hear more about her and if there was any other dolls in the chatty Cathy line?
Thank You

My children were still young when Lego began making the kits that made one toy. It was counter- productive. They no longer were using their creativity and once done, the toy the created became an unsteady dust collector. I hope the movies will spark some interest in the original Legos!

I grew up with a Lego Bucket that I don't know where the bricks came from (probably bought for my older sister as I don't remember receiving any) and played with them the old-fashioned way (no sets or instructions. But I always wanted more specialty pieces like windows or wheels!

As a kid my neighbor friend had a great lego collection and lot of star wars sets, we built and had fun with Legos for days on end. Sometimes we built the star wars sets and played with them alone and sometimes we made our own random creations. Lot of fun.

I am sad this video didn't mention that Nintendo used to make and sell a LEGO ripoff called N&B Blocks back in the early 1960's and actually used the System of Toy concept since a few of their other toy products are compatible with the N&B Blocks.

I think Legos are too expensive 1 of those kits you buy are easily like $50. 00 or more. Those are the small kits
I've got no sympathy for them when they're selling their products at a price that most families can't afford
