Beneath Paris's tree-lined avenues and broad boulevards, there lurks a labyrinthine world of tunnels, chambers, and ossuaries: the Paris Catacombs, which are made up of 200 miles of tunnels that have been attracting, terrorizing, inspiring, and hosting generations of Parisians. The catacombs are probably best known as the final resting place for medieval and early-modern Parisians whose remains were relocated there in the late 18th century. But the catacombs are so much more than that. For centuries, the Paris Catacombs have been a quarry, tourist attraction, hiding place, farm, and art gallery, among other things. Darren: Much of europe you merely rebt your grave. When the rent payment stops they throw your bones into catacombs. They cut up tomb stone for road blocks. Many media like to show this as some sort of desiccation or racism if not French, German writing. THEY DONT PUT BODIES IN CATACOMBS, just bones

I got to visit these in October 2019. It was super interesting and cool to see. What was sad though was occasionally seeing graffiti on human bones and skulls. Like Travis was here. Really disrespectful.

Have to put them someplace, I guess.
Not for me, though. I'm sure I'd be uncomfortable. Like running out of there screaming like a little girl, lol.
