Songs have always been a fascinating way to explore popular culture. They possess meaning and symbolism, whether they're considered timely, timeless, or both. Many permeate the zeitgeist as testaments to a generation's woes, beliefs, loves, and hates. Essentially, music offers an escape. It can also be incredibly controversial. Some songs have been so offensive to a particular group that they got banned. Occasionally, this happens to tunes most people wouldn't assume anyone would have a problem with. This list features songs we were surprised to learn were controversial. Take a look and upvote your favorites!

The BBC is the most ridiculous, and make the people pay for a 'licence '. If one doesn't pay, one can face JAIL TIME. As an American living in England, it is ludicrous to me. Even if you doesn't have a t. v, you still has to pay for a licence, because you can watch the BBC on your devices. I mean, really? And jail time? This will become a distant memory.

So you only covered pop and rock? For shame! Nothing from country such as Loretta Lynn's song The Pill, which was banned; Steve Earl's songs were banned in Nashville because he was considered outlaw country.
And to all you diehards, perhaps the other narrator simply retired or his contract ended.

BTO - aka Bachman Turner Overdrive had a song titled You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet. The vocalist did a lot of stuttering in that song. He said he got the idea of doing this from his brother who stuttered

I just finished hearing the Beach boys God only knows and I didn't hear nothing offensive it's a beautiful song. Probably the people who are offended back then were religious zelots

My Generation- the real reason for the stuttering is that it is impersonating someone off their face on amphetamine, like the mods the Who were singing about.
