What if the Quakers Never Existed? part 1 Craig: As a Southern Quaker myself, this was fascinating - thanks!
But I'm not sure no similar religion would have come into being without George Fox. During Fox's time, other radical nonconformist Protestant sects were developing, but most didn't gain much of a foothold - except for the Ranters. The Ranters shared a lot of the beliefs of the Quakers, but were more individualistic and had trouble organizing themselves. I can readily imagine that, had the Ranters not mostly converted to a related but better-organized group, a successful organizing force might have emerged within them.
However, I think history would still have been very different. Without some of the specifics of the Quaker Testimonies, which might very well not have emerged in anything like that form, Ranter-descended Americans would likely not have come to radical abolitionism during the Colonial period. My own no-Quakers alternate history would, therefore, involve either no Underground Railroad or a much less effective one, and quite possibly neither the Republican Party nor (as a consequence) the American Civil War.
Also, I think if you've read Albion's Seed, there's a hint in there at why Southern culture has produced great generals. In particular, it's the Cavalier heritage - remember that the nineteenth century was a time when strategy and officership were still quintessentially aristocratic, even in the anti-aristocratic United States. While Lee was of partly Scotch-Irish descent (DFH's Borderers, he was enculturated by very Cavalier military institutions.

It wasn't an area the size of England. It was Philadelphia plus a little. William Penn's sons forged a treaty claiming they got more land than that, and so by that trickery expanded more, but Pennsylvania didn't reach the size it is now until well over 100 years later.
And saying we believe in the spices really grates. Those are merely categories into which the many ways we've testified to our Christian faith have been organized (for less than 100 years) for teaching purposes. If you want a short thing of what we believe, then we believe Christ is revealed in the heart of every person who takes the time to sit and listen, and that we can obey Christ's commands if we listen to them and respond.

Do we have a what if the Fourth Crusade never happened, and/or if Byzantium never fell to turkish influence either? And to what extend would 'The Second' Rome be able to take on a changing Europe as well as turks on the other side? Good video as usual. I'm not American, and I never knew Pennsylvania was 'the quaker colony'. The more you know, hey?

5: 10 wait so Canada is a Quaker nation in terms of culture demographics and politics?
edit: I suppose that's why Canada is much more open, tolerant, multicultural, leftist and pacifist than America even now?

What if France won Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, Napoleon invaded England and King George III, the royal court and British administration moved to Canada where they established the government of the Empire?

Texas was already independent by the time of the Mexican American war. We won our revolution under a southern general. California would be the state whose inhabitants revolted during the war.

So in terms of American generals, was U. S. Grant an outlier? He is the best general the USA ever produced.

The word Huguenot is pronounced as HugueNO. It is a French word and the t at the end is silent.
