Yet despite dominating Central Asia and Eastern Europe in antiquity, we find few clear descendants or legacy. Bronze Age Anatolia and to an extent Assyria were ethnically diverse, having multiple language isolates eg. hattic, urartian, sumerian. In Asia Minor you also had different hittite related languages like Luwian, Palaic, groups like the Mitanni, kaskians, and gutians in the zagros.
My point is perhaps the collision and synoecism of different cultures has driven civilization forward, but cultural diversity of these organically formed tribes is lost.
If everyone reached a stalemate in conquest, would the world stagnate or flourish due to the ingenuity that feudal warfare requires? As you said in the video, empires like the Seleucid, Roman, Caliphate, and Mongols got complacent and slowly ceased to function.

1- Zoroastrianism has been a major religions for Iranian/Persians empires for centuries from the Achaemenid to the Sassanid witch is almost one thousand year so yeah its did last long enough for us to actually know about them

In the beginning, only 50 students were allowed to study at the Grand School. In less than 100 years, enrollment at the Grand School was over 30, 000 students, one of most famous one was the Academy of Gundishapur, founded by Khosrau I in a. d. 550 offered education and training in medicine, philosophy, theology and science. But focus. on medicine here were the famous ancient Persian Borzuya learned medicine According to The Cambridge, it was the most important medical center of the ancient world during the 6th and 7th centuries. as for technology the full heavy iron cavalry was created by Parthian first human animation frame by frame was created by the Sassanian and Qanat (Water Supply System) by the Achaemenid So we actually know what did Zoroastrians view the technologies sciences and philosophy but you ether lack the knowledge of their history or you simply ignore it.

It seems that papacy wanted to maintain a balance of power in order to do it's thing. South of Italy was greek and prestigious, exelent naval and military base at the same time. Even if Normans attacked in the middle of a civil war, powerful byzantium would eventually wrestle back the control over south. As long as Byzantium was a decicive factor in Italy, there could be no lenght schisms. If Slavs were succesfully incorporated into the empire, given the fact that Persia was generally much weaker, what happened in times of Psellos would happen earlier and would bear far greater importance. Eastern mediteranian would remain an important hub of civilisation.

This means no Portuguese trying to get to India and conquer the Indian Ocean, and thus, no age of discoveries, meaning the Americas wouldn't be discovered until much later, if at all.
This also means
No (western) Imperialism
No Western dominance on the world stage
And this would lead to a huge butterfly effect that nobody can predict.

Imagine a Iran not run by mullahs, a more stable Afghanistan and an India not faced with intense repression and an end of their Golden Age. Countries like Indonesia would be more cosmopolitan and possibly having living standards close to what China is today. Buddhism would be more widespread. The Balkans would be more stable. No Arab Israeli conflict which at heart is a religious issue. The big winners here are Iran and India.

When I was a youth, I heard that Mecca had a strong Jewish converts starting. I was hoping that you would bring that up, but it may not be written in minor history books that you have read. Alternate history would happen they turn to Judaism, then Christianity. About deep water exploration around Africa, Mongols may have interrupted China trade to Europe and make the western Europe send ships out for safer trade.

The main driving force for the discovery of America was the attempt to gain access to the spices in the far east. With the byzantine and Persian empire still intact, those old trade routes never get disrupted. Theres not a real reason for people to go west. If America gets discovered, I think it would be willy-nilly by fisherman and adventurers. I do not think that itll be colonized.

A beduin or another semitic based cult would appear in its place. Keep in mind one of the original goals under mohamed was the unification of the many arab tribes, that would still happen have it been another way. I doubt Zoroastrianism or Buddhism would hold power with the semitic cultures, maybe another christian cult to rival the catholic and ortodox

I wonder what that will mean for Western Africa, since we would have been more exposed to Europe the Empire of Songhai would probably still exist. Glory to Songhai. Liked the video! One thing I am a bit dubious about is the theory that Zoroastrianism would spread. In our history, that religion was notoriously chary of accepting converts; it was more an ethnic religion.
