The 7 Emotions that Push Civilization
video description
I m incapable of feeling guilt, never have and never will, but I do feel massive amounts of shame.
This is due to me understanding who my ancestors are, their place in society and our family usually holding a role of significance.
So therefore, I respect my ancestors and feel a tremendous pride in their accomplishments and sacrifices but feel shame when I can t live up to, or exceed those expectations I set for myself.
I feel shame if I conduct myself in a less than savory manner, or partake in activities that, albeit common in the west today, but I still find myself disgusted.
I hold myself to a very high standard in intellect, combat, charisma and always find myself in leadership positions; of which I see as a required part of my being.
As a leader I expect myself to be able to perform physical tasks along with my followers and serve as an example of virtue and strength.
So when I ve had leadership positions at workplaces, I ve been willing to sacrifice breaks for months, or eating just to ensure that everything runs smoothly and my followers aren t overwhelmed or left without my orders.
Since I see myself as a servant, whilst being a leader, I serve my people and protect them from harm even at the cost of my livelihood or general safety.
For example; when I was in school and there were bullies, I would make myself a target to prevent my friends being bullied or beaten. Because I d much rather worry about defending myself constantly than watch even a single other person be beaten on by a thug.

I don'T think anxiety can be seen as a distinct emotions. it's more of a fear merged with guilt. which turn the fear inward.
I think that the seventh emotion should be despair. because despair is what have driven alot of revolution and can turn out almost every other emotions.
despair drown fear, guilt and shame. and often amplify disgust and envy.
no known civilistation are built out of despair. but actually more then you can think.
depression is not a matter of anxiety but of despair. having no hope nothing to root you nothing to fight for.
despair is actually far more potent driving force throught the history then any.
revolution often start out of despair.
despair is ambivalent as at one point despair just drive to hope in anything that would change the current state of despair.
we all know the expression about a cornered beast/cat. that's despair. when there is no hope you end up with nothing to loose.
and thus can only hope of getting better no matter what.
Anxiety is just the result of a transition from guilt to fear based society. the current sociopolitical movement from the left are all authoritarian which can only be fear based.
and thuse imposing that upon a guilt based society put the guilt society into a dillema.
get crushed and live in fear, or fight to survive and be free while feeling guilty of everything that you had to do against your guilt-based values.
that's the root of anxiety.
I other word, anxiety is just the result of a transition of internal conflict within the dominant emotion.
any society would have that anxiety. anxiety is the uncertaintity, the unease the uncomfort the unsettling state of those not knowing what to do and still trying to run two horses at the same time.
it's not a driving force. it's a transitive one.
but Fear cannot overcome Guilt-base society.
as more fear put on guilt base will just eventually justify the said guilty to act without guilt complexe as they gonna feel it to be a morale duty to act and not acting would become a cause of guilt.
and those who are anxious are depress and depressed people are driven by despair. when the guilt-based gonna act they gonna gather the despaired one, against the force of envy and fear.
the issue is that Envy start strong but is like a snake that eat it's tail.
Fear on the other hand require alot of energy to maintain and gather only negativity in the society, it must be cautiously administred and sadly his easily to overdo it,
and fear is of all the one that feed more despair;
that the line of fear based society, maintain fear withou leading into despair.

Great video! helped me better understand a lot of observations I already had about the cultures of the world, Only part that I partly disagreed with is the part about a the US costal areas being anxiety/status based is mostly dead on, its basically the foundation of woke culture is built upon. However, not most or everyone in those areas can be described anxiety/status. Such things as that is relegated primarily business, political, cultural elites. As well as those specialist in the middle class said elites depend upon to run their empires they built, The Professional managerial Class, the elites courtiers/flunkies, as well as camp followers who for whatever reason want to benefit from the cultural power that comes from the anxiety/status/Woke wave that going on, for personal or ideological reasons. But it dose effect culture environment in those areas, due to the wealth and power concentrated in hands that they can deploy against dissent, forcing everyone to go along with it changing the culture, mostly on superficial way, bring people into their camp. In America and wider anglosphere, and to a lesser extent but more so in nations outside an anglosphere, It can be said that western civilization is being divide into two separate societies. Liberal/Leftist cities, mixed suburbs and conservatives/reactionary exurbs and rural areas. A conflagration in coming by the looks of things. Keep them coming, Also cool pic 40: 02, you must a cool group of friends!

An anxiety based society occurs when an individual has issues that dominate their life and are unable to take any action to combat the causes of those external issues. One could easily say to let go of the issues caused by external powers, as the Shame based society does, and retain some of the advantages of the Shame based society. However, some Anxieties are significantly more dangerous to ignore, such as microplastics in food, the climate catastrophe, war mongering nations. The fact that at any point, one may be aware of such anxious thoughts, and be unable to act upon them is since these facts do not disappear, is the greatest tragedy of them all, and is a guaranteed path to decadence. In a Pride based society, one is free to confront the real anxieties (such as through Dueling a dangerous opponent, rallying peoples to actually fight for freedoms, etc, but modern lack of freedom caused by an Anxious government (as well as teetering Big Tech) would be what I'd say is a key component to the coming decadence. Modern Populists are somewhat aware of this, only ever riling up people on massive scales around election periods, to give their followers a reward that ensures medium-term loyalty, whereas the modern left simply keeps people anxious and angry all the time, with elections hardly being enough to vent this frustration out, and there be no other means other than protest or strikes.

Yes we are run by emotions, but trying to assign individual emotions to nations and government is quite the stretch. It's more like certain cultures allow certain emotions to rule. Like how Western nations encourage greed and violence.
In terms of emotions, I can think of a couple dozen off-hand.
1. Fear (of death/injury)
2. Anxiety (fear in the future tense, as in, maybe you'll lose a loved one or face a harsh winter)
3. Hunger
4. Sadness
5. Pain
6. Joy
7. Lust
8. Rage
9. Hate
Then the more complex emotions that are specific to humans. Rather than being a unique feeling, they trigger one of the primal feelings, like love can trigger joy, fear, sadness, or anxiety depending on the situation. And the desire for status or social praise triggers joy or dopamine.
10. Hoarding
12. Familial Love
13. Gratefulness
14. Desire for social praise (being praised by others, receiving honors, surely makes people feel a very strong emotion)
15. Jealousy (defined as feeling hurt of sad that someone has something you don't)
16. Envy (more positive emotion that pushes us to do more to have what others have)
17. Commitment to offspring
18. Curiosity (the joy of learning new things)
19. Belonging (also called tribalism)
20. Boredom
21. Inadequacy
22. Feeling of accomplishment

I'm from the Coloradan anxiety front range region, I don't actually think the region you marked is anxiety and instead operates for guilt with some anxiety. The west coast is a nightmare of self-centeredness and stands offishness with it opting for all kinds of crazy insane stuff I felt alien but in rural guilt-based Amish belt Pennsylvania the people felt the same as home when I visited the point I seriously want to live there. The area only acts anxiety-like under some very particular conditions and I think this is due to the fact that people can go cope by running into the mountains and developing serenity from the stresses of the modern urban world or having some hardship or overcome a challenge that strengthens them like a mountain they want to climb thus dampening a lot of stress. The region definitely follows guilt-based practicality to it. I also don't think coastal Oregon (no the shithole known as portland isn't coastal) is anxiety as well as it operates pretty similarly.

The idea that you would use laws from physics to model equilibrium is like a kind of DMT that will blast you off to new spheres of understanding.
The degree to which equilibrium is maintained in physical systems increases as you add more complexity, compartmentalization and hierarchy of agents to a model/system.
So physics has true equilibrium. Biophysics has higher-order definitions of energy physical energy is indistinguishable from concepts in statistics, see Boltzmann constant s application in machine learning. Here, energy relates to metanomics and the quanta/quantities of biological & genetic products and to the valence that determines how these products interact.
Econophysics is another example where you have pseudo-equilibrium, but these models have many more agents where the impact of spatial constraints in the movement of information/products/security s is quickly falling away.
Social physics is far more decoupled from equilibrium than econophysics.

to answer that last question. yes it will happen to us and it will be horrific, brutal and long lasting. you have already made a video answering that question and in it young men are the agents of change and revolution/rebellion. in the west young men have on a generational basis have allowed Anxiety based civilization to flourish and last far longer than fear, shame or pride base society's would allow because we are guilt based. this in a way acts like a rubber band where the other wouldn't pull back as far so the counter swing wouldn't be as hard or las as long but with guilt based we have pulled back way beyond what is reasonable with perpetual accommodations. thus when the rubber band does eventually release, they will catastrophically push in one of the other civilization like pride, shame or fear much to the detriment of anyone who isn't them.

Every time I click on one of these videos I am ready to hear about something super interesting and well researched thats going to blow my mind, and every time im reminded that this is just some random guy talking about stuff he thinks is cool and presenting his opinions as fact. There is something about your world view that feels off and always leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I could be wrong, but I think on some level you view the world as a linear march towards progress and that the places of the world which are better off achieved this comfort because their people function in an elevated way, which is uncomfortably close to because theyre inherently better than everyone else and i encourage you to change this perspective. Not only would it be healthier for the soul, but it would make for better content.

The Left has already won the culture war. Most young people are socially liberal and, while people get more economically conservative as they grow older they mostly either maintain their level of social liberalness or become even more socially liberal. The Boomers are considered right-wing today but they are still far more socially progressive than their parents and only seem conservative compared to millennials. I am certain the average puritan farmer would think the U. S. founded by Washnthing was socially bankrupt, so would Washington think so of post-civil war America, and post-civil war America would think so of 1950s America. America's history is always one of greater social liberalism because the moment we stop reaching for social liberty is the moment America stops embodying our moral greatness.

The section about Gen Z made me notice how, as a Gen Z-er, I've been actively doing the opposite from most of my generation, especially through several really strict self-imposed bans on popular practices such as alcohol and tattoos. If I had to come up with a psychological explanation, I'd say it's a combination of feelings of inadequacy growing up around higher social classes at school as a scholarship recipient, of a family culture from a very poor rural background that has persevered through its astronomical social ascension since my grandparents' generation migrated into urban areas, and of how disgusting the popularity of unfaithfulness and erasing history in modern youth culture feels when your family has been tightly-knit, vice-free, peaceful and monogamous for at least three generations.

Fantastic video, but I have to ask, why would you ever move to LA? I was born and raised there and the greatest decision of my life other than giving it to Christ was getting out of that evil satanic degenerate shallow vapid superficial toxic depressing totalitarian godless shithole. I wish I grew up in a small town with a sense of community. I m very curious as to why you made that decision, because from my point of view you threw away a great life in favor of a shitty one. If you just got sick of Midwestern weather, I would recommend my current home of Florida. It has a similar physical climate to LA and a much better social climate.

As a Texan who has been fortunate enough to live outside of Texas and outside of the US I ve largely seen my society be driven by shame despite the ingrained values of individualism in our culture. There s a worry of bringing shame to one s family name or not restoring some vague sense of honor to it. There s a shame that ought to be cast on outsiders those who are or behave non-Texan. I understand the subcultures of the US are largely overlooked, and currently Texas is often hated or ignored in a general sense by Americans. But it might be a nice follow up video for you to look into. Keep up the great work AltHist! :)

The anxiety portion of this video really helped me understand just how realistic The book series called Uglies really is when it comes to how Scott Westerfield wrote a future anxiety/envy driven society. I mean he quite Literally wrote it to where the main thing everyone in the society wants is to be given a surgery that makes all people after turning 16 beautiful, healthy, and extends youth. But they are also unwittingly submitting to alterations to their brains And ultimately abandoning any sense of individuality in favor of a supposed perfected collective that is incredibly docile and stable.

You are 100% wrong at the slide at 4: 36. String theory is the theory that behind each particle (gluons and quarks, you may have heard of them) is a vibrating, higher dimensional string. The way the string vibrates then dicates the properties of said particle. String theory tries to unify Einstein's relativity with quantum mechanics to arrive at a theory of everything. The physical idea described in the slide comes from quantum entanglement, in which particles can become entangled across any distance to share to same properties such as spin.
