Thank you so so much for watching! Making Synapse has been such a journey. It was a three-day, non-stop shoot in order to get it made within the $2000 USD we had saved up. Rina and I spent many long nights making the props by hand, researching shoot locations, and doing so so SO many camera tests that we wondered if it was ever going to get done. We could have never imagined back when we were making fake trash for the booth Miyu lives in, that one day we'd get picked up by Dust! Thank you so much for selecting us!
I just wanted to give one last thanks to our entire cast & crew for helping us make this cyberpunk short film a reality!

Too dark for my personal liking, but no doubt it’s exactly what others will find to be intriguing. I know you have budget and time constraints, but the build-up and back story to the bounty killer part would have helped it have more of a story line. She just picked out someone she found on her phone. Seems if it were that easy, the people in the profile would be dead in quick order.
Oh, I need more credit. Let me find someone on my phone. Knock, knock, knock. Candygram! I didn’t order. Ugh! Video made. Off to the 7-11. Let me show you my kill! Here’s your dough. Go home, crank up the virtual reality machine.
Fair.

She just needed a little extra money, so she went and did the equivalent of Uber Eats but for bounty kills in exchange for money. I love that when she wanted to cash it in, that she looked embarrassed. The actress played it so well. And then even the guy, the cashier, he's literally enslaved with the collar around his neck, chains. He's chained down. He's probably working off his debt. Wow. This is, it doesn't seem that far-fetched. Great concept, because she was on a date, on a virtual date, which ran out of credit, and we thought when she went on Synapse that she wanted to go do an in-person date. Brilliant.

We're so grateful for those who took the time to watch this film. It means a lot to us since it's our first time that it got this far.
Not gonna lie, I thought I was gonna die in the intense heat during the production or fall off of the bedframe while helping Ken & the crew when I should have just been focusing on staying in character just so we can get to the finish line Lmao We had so many crazy stories during the three day shoot but I'm just happy we get to finally share the final product with everyone!

Not that far off from an encroaching, near future commoditized alternative existence on demand product paradigm, fraught with the usual addiction and inescapable debt burdens, layered into these ever more compelling alternative existence templates. Of course, various other productions have ventured far into this territory, but considering minimal resources to work with, very well done! OK, the chain and neck collar, maybe a bit over the top. ..

This was a fantastic short, on every level. I thought it was going one way, and then BAM! Suddenly the protagonist is out making hits for credits. Very well played. The only thing I'd have possibly changed; I'd have made these peoples day to day lives so much more dismal that the simulations are the only relief they have. The dystopia outside the VR goggles looked a tad too clean. But aside from that tiny quibble, WOW!

The horror, for me, was not in the brutality of her debt collection, but in the way dystopia has infected such banal places like apartment buildings and corner shops. How easily people will allow their everyday lives to turn into waking nightmares, often in service to economic ideologies. The metal collar on the store clerk and the pay-as-you-go cards were an excellent touch.

as an old man, with more in the past than the future, i'm curious about the actor's expressions and mannerisms. the stage of her loss appears recent. the transitions between light and dark are nicely done. curious as to when they will become shades of grey, as her emotions callus while bounty-hunting to feed the memories of the past.

Wonderful dystopia. Could easily be a series that has mostly independent episodes around several characters with occasional (mid-season, season-finale, sweeps, event) episodes that crossed over between the characters. Hope everyone that worked on this enjoyed the process and continues creating.

this was as amazing as it was disturbing. great work to land a complete story and complete idea in such a short film. the opener -- 'i don't want to talk about it. i'm afraid if i talk about it, it will come true. ' tying the bow at the end. in the beginning.

First off, great work! I love this genre, especially told in Short Film.
Dystopian yes, possible perhaps.
At my age, I’m fortunate enough to checkout before it should happen. Pun is intended!

As someone who has done doordash delivery before, I love the way the service is portrayed in this! And I loved how the food was perfectly lined up between the nightmare and breakfast. Awesome work!

A corporation defining the value of life and death by turning debtors into bounties, and selling false realities. Terrifying. and we're not that far off, if you think about it.

I gave it 55 seconds, then stopped and gave it a thumbs down. God awful acting and script. Dust keeps getting worse every time. Remember those over 2 years ago and before

This was good, short story telling. I didn't need the description to explain it to me, just good writing, directing and acting. Thank you for making this.

It's impossible that this could happen. It's possible that this could happen. It happened and it didn't. You're breathtakingly talented. Thank you.

Its a dystopia we are heading towards but nobody seems to take note of. Film was short and simple that notifies us of a future that may come true soon.

I agree. you punked a senseabout a real life happening. It was good and I feel I I got it. Definitely worth expanding upon.
Thank you; )

The depth of this is crazy. Killing just to be with a dead loved one again. Killing the living to be with the dead. The mask of delusion iswow
