NPC AI always seems...not quite right in some games. What's the deal? Why are your companions always dumber and slower? Let's take a look at why Arngeir: Escort missions in WoW were freaking PEIN INCARNATE. The targets walk slow as a bat being forced back down to hell and runs off at the closest enemy, hostile or passive, and aggro everything within a 10 mile radius. Of course you'll have to go help them as as soon as you're within 10 feet of them all those enemies that he's aggroed all INSTANTLY turn their attention on you and rip you to shreds. After you die, the target then books it back to the starting position, regardless of how close they are to the end location. I think I watched this Carbot Animation episode that depicted exactly that and it was pure painful memories to watch it.

For me as someone who plays using keyboard and mouse, I just cant stand it when the npc is just flat out faster than your walk speed and slower than your jog/running speed. Just either make them slow so I can walk along side them or make them fast so I can jog beside them. Not this weird thing where I take two steps and then stop so that they can catch up or I'm so slow it feels like I've just had both of my legs broken.
Atmosphere goes out of the window when i literally have to stop every other second just so the person can catch up because I cant jog any slower without walking so slow that a snail would beat me in a foot race.

I can't remember the mission name, but there was a particular escort mission in City of Heros that you were escorting a dual wielding blaster and she would agro the shit out of everything. Your sitting around letting natural healing take its course and the NPC Blaster would see an NPC enemy waaaaaaayyyy down the hall, she would just take off in a rush and start attacking. It was reeeeeaaaalllly annoying. They eventually did patch her to make her less agroy, but if I remember correctly, it never totally went away.

This was painful to watch. Ram is not going to be the main concern, if anything at all it would be CPU. But resource usage of any kind is hardly going to be a problem in a game that deals with many NPCs constantly. If this is the level of knowledge in all of your videos, I can only warn people to stay far away.

I think it would be very interesting if the NPC you have to protect starts sprinting because now IT IS IMPORTANT THAT IT SURVIVES. Id rather it be programed to the -fear of dying- speed than -oh im not real screw the player i will crawl on the ground- speeds.

This is a video about a problem we all have but seems to not understand which thing we all complain about because idc when they are following and are slower
I mean when you walk with someone and you-re ever so slightly faster for no reason

I think in Halo Reach, The New Alexandria mission. When you have to escort Buck's Falcon. Instead of flying straight to the objective, Nooooooo..... Let's go up, down, next to this building, then go to that building......

I-m just thinking of cod... those are the worst. I-m not trying to soak up any atmosphere from a closed in space that isn-t at all interesting. I just wanna shoot people faster

Found this video because:
1: This has always annoyed me.
2: Playing Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut and they did it RIGHT! Best job I've ever seen.

Did I miss the answer to the initial question or was it not given? What does having an NPC walk a path to do with HOW FAST they are made to walk it?
