10 Things 2000s Gamers WILL NEVER FORGET andrew: At the college house we used to have competitions to see how long you could last with a full wanted level in GTA San Andreas. Just four to six guys drinking, smoking, yelling at the TV with some usually pissed off girlfriends in the background. Those games have been referenced at least two weddings I've been to. Damn fun times!

I went on my first rampage in GTA2, never played CoD or Halo or Half-life. I loved the Gamecube start up sequence, and the start and menu music in Mass Effect, and 80% of my gaming time in the 2000s was The Sims and The Sims 2. I never owned a console that could play Guitar hero or any of the others. I played Alliance on an EU server, mostly, but I do remember that questing as the Horde in the Barrens was pointless because the NPCs were usually dead. When it comes to gaming at school, my memories are of playing SimCity on the offline computers in the 90s more than in my final 2 years when the school got the internet. I did spend a lot of time playing a mostly text based online RPG set in Roman Britain though, at university I mostly used the library computers to read Harry Potter fanfiction.

for me the best was playing morrowind/oblivion. the exploration and sense of discovery was so immersive and captivating. when you would go exploring deep into a cave or climb to the top of a mountain it really felt like you were the first person to do it and the freedom with decision making made it feel like every choice you made mattered. definitely the best era of gaming.

The ps2 startup screen gives me ptsd. When i bought my first ps2, i got GTAIII with it, but it was a bad copy and didn't play, so it would go to the screen as if i didn't have a disco in it. So every time i hear it i get this fear in the pit of my stomach of Is it gonna work? Which is a shame because i absolutely love yje console.

I remember me playing pirates of the carribean on the WII and doing an actual sword fight at the beginning.
13 year old me loved it, is was so perfect
30 min later I discovered you can also sit and do the smallest movements and it did the same thing. Very dissapointing but the Wii was so awesome!

When flash game websites got blocked in school that 1 kid who knew of a new not-banned website was the hero of the entire school. I remember we used to keep the websites secret to our year group in an attempt to prevent the website from getting blocked for as long as possible.

Expansion packs back before DLC came along. Back then you paid real money for a physical CD that you had to install, so the content had to be at least decent, instead of useless shit designed to just pull money out of your bank account. Special Forces for Battlefield 2 was just magnificent.

From 2002 to 2008 I didn't play video games. It wasn't until a little game called COD 4 was the talk around campus, while I was in college that got me back into video games. It was the perfect ice breaker to meet people because EVERYONE was playing it. Those were the days. Now COD is trash!

Nothing like scribbling your initials on so many different PS2/GC memory cards so your siblings didn't take them and save over your game files; w;
And a parent always tripping on the controller cord and sending the console skidding across the floor, even when they're not trying to

Man, I remember the first time I saw my cousin play Arkham Asylum he was playing the opening scene. I was like 12 years old. It made me beg my mom for an xbox360. The atmosphere of the game impacted me so much I haven't felt that again until the breath of the wild trailer from 2017.

Man! i often think about the days that i lived in my family's house and i was like 12 yo and playing for the first time GTA Vice City or Star Wars Jedi Academy. Staying for too late in the night just having great time and then going to school and talk with my friends about it.

Didn't experience wow launch since I was born 99. Rip. But me and my pal tried to replicate that feeling by pulling out ethernet cables to his trailer and playing wow classic. It was magic. I was the mighty priest Ainsworth and he was a Warrior Garzhuk.

I just miss when games were more for having fun whether single player or online, now it all feels too much like a competition as well as games being unfinished on release and what was meant to be in the game, now costs an extra amount of money for dlc.
