10 Things ONLY Gamers With Jobs Will Understand HAWK: Yes! I have a crazy library of games, from retro to current consoles, but i sometimes just play multiplayer games or NBA2K because the single player games and games with good story, i need more time to play and emerge in the story. One of the reasons I haven't sarted spiderman, miles morales, uncharted, and ghost of tsushima. smh. I just recently started a whole bunch of games on gamepass, because I missed out on some good ones that left gamepass. finally started fallout 3 and hopefully will start fallout 4 and fall out new vegas. Finally started pheonix wright, love this game.

Ehhhhhh deployed soldiers play SOOO much video games. I was the supply monkey for my unit and I made sure people got entertainment. Boredom leads to A LOT of trouble. Deployed army soldiers are basically toddlers with combat training. My marine buddies tell me it s the same way with them and the few navy males/females I know say similar stories. I imagine air force has game systems actually assigned to their people lol.
I know some deployed units didn t have the time or they had TERRIBLE CO s and they weren t allowed to play games and I do feel bad for them.
Edit because i hit the send button too early.

This video hit me hard, when i was little my mom would always say you can buy and play any game u want when u grow up and get a job you'll have all the time in the world when u grow up and get a job because i would play games instead of studying sometimes but now that I've grown up i realised that adults don't get any time for gaming and it was all a lie and the most heartbreaking thing for me was when she said you're a grown up now u got job and responsibilities you're not a kid anymore u shouldn't be playing any games

When you barely have time to play, but in-game you're stuck with a boring part, like when you have to spend an hour or 2 on the citadel in Mass Effect 1 and 3, it wasn't too bad in Mass Effect 2, but in 1 and 3 you can take hours just walking around talking to people.
Or you're on a quest that involves looking for something that rarely spawns, or you're having to face a boss over and over to get a good drop.

I remember when Halo 3 came out. I was in college and had a part time job. Aside from being able to afford the game I also went to the GameStop nightly launch and stayed all night playing without any issue.
If I tried doing that now it take a month to recover all that sleep and I would be a zombie at work.
At nearly 40 I had to step out of multiplayer games. Is either that or not play any other game.

I have to preplan to play games on top of work and kids. I even have a system of coordination and I even have my kids place a list of games they wish to play and they all want to play with me. So I have to circle chart the name/genre of game and work a compromise and if it doesn't play out I have to choose to either not play or put my foot down and play my own game. 9/10, I end up not playing.

We adult gamers are oppressed. Young gamers have got school, college and a few chores to do. Adult gamers have got work, cooking, parenting, sleep impacted and you'll start to play a game and then think 'I'm absolutely knackered and didn't sleep well last night and I know that sleep will do me more good! '
What do you do? YOU PLAY THAT DAMNED GAME AND GET SLEEP TOMORROW NIGHT!

Maybe these are the reasons i don't wanna grow up mentally to a certain degree. I mean giving up my masters isn't the best thing but i feel indefinitely empty, having so much responsibility. It's not the life i want. Plus the thing about work is if the work you are doing haunts you in your freetime, then it's a redflag for me. Took me unfortunately 7 years to understand.

I get this. Raising 3 little ones & working a lot of overtime. It's hard to find time to finish games. Especially huge open worlds. And I hate the stigma that if you play video games, you're just a child or a loser. Lots of successful, hard working people play video games. I think it's a great way to bond with my kids. I've been playing since the 80s & still love it.

A good example of this is I was heavy into Destiny 2. But I got a real job and got into a serious relationship. So I fell off at the Last Wish DLC. And I watch Datto videos after years of being off of it and just can't imagine if I am able to jump back in if I wanted to. Just watch his most recent resource grinding video it made my head spin.

I definitely feel like having a job and being married is what has pushed me more to mobile gaming. I m able to catch some simplicity in quick moments of downtime.
And just like the video says it s been so hard to do multiplayer in any capacity because I just wanna de-stress, not get whacked by a 14 year old streamer whose job is to play.

I agree 100% with this list! At one point, gaming became another task for me to grind for and got burnout (from gaming and work hahah. I've since learned to take things slow, and game only when I'm up for it and limit it to at least an hour/day. I even finished Witcher 3's main campaign & Heart of Stone DLC after 3 years of playing!

I remember Microsoft Flight Simulator being released at midnight, in whatever time zone the user is in.
So a lot of peeps simply changed their time zone to eastern Kiribati, which has a UTC +14: 00 time zone, to play it as early as possible
So I'm not sure a standard release time will actually help with release day anxiety!

For me it's really the working and then choose between friends or gaming. And always feels wrong when I pick gaming. Glad with my girlfriend she's not super into gaming but enough to eater play together or she can just sit next to me either read a book, play around on her phone or just talk for hours while I game.

I work 2nd shift, 3pm-1am. I wake up around 11, only have about 3 hours to do everything I need to do that day before I head to work. By the time I get home and cleaned up, it s 2am and I have about an hour to wind down before going to bed. So the only time I really have to game is on the weekends.
