I think the ABK deal will still go through, maybe with a few concessions, but it's looking like a sure-thing. I also think this sucks as an acquisition of this size isn't good for consumers in the long-run and it's only gonna reverberate more acquisitions from other companies who I imagine are already preparing to do so if/when this deal is approved.
If Microsoft invested HALF of that acquisition money into the 29) (even more than Sony) studios they presently own, they could easily compete with Sony and Nintendo with high quality releases of the IPs under their belt. Nintendo is often at the forefront with innovation and apparently Sony is trying to tap into innovation a bit more with R&D ramp up. Microsoft should follow that example instead always throwing checkbooks around as a means to compete.
And here's one more thing to consider: exclusivity of various types are likely to increase. Any publisher/developer not under the Microsoft Gamepass umbrella of Blizzard-Activision and Bethesda games, will not want to compete with that degree high-profile property on the Gamepass ecosystem. It will be avoided as it is currently is by some (a la Activision (for now) and less and less third-party will have a presence there because of companies not wanting to struggle the rather steep slope of a platform Microsoft will have.

I mean this looks great but how come no games look anywhere near this good?
The second video of the Asian fellow looked more like a video game
Personally I think they should focus much more on the peripheral stuff Foliage Whatever is right in front of you Whatever you are touching And a little less on the face of your character which honestly you only really see in cutscenes (First person, third person = no face) or like a blur during combat So let s get gameplay figured out first And then your surroundings And then we can worry about whether the guy looks real Because if you plop a really really realistic looking dude into a typical AAA game He is gonna look really out of place

I am and always have been on the side of Microsoft being allowed to buy Activision Blizzard. If they keep call of duty on all platforms, great, but I don't think call of duty has been good for close to ten years now. And if they change their minds and go Xbox exclusive, I'm fairly confident it will fall apart. Xbox has messed up nearly every exclusive for the last two console generations.
And of course, if somehpw Xbox manages to break their streak of bad exclusives, literally nobody loses in that scenario. Let capitalism take its course.

Does the graphics really matter tho? Outside of having a top end pc to even run high graphics it wouldn t even be noticeable on console atleast not with the current gen without sacrificing FPS. Not to mention some of the best games ever made to this day still have some of the most mediocre graphics. Battlebit proved you don t need realistic graphics to be successful, I feel like devs will just use this as an excuse to crank up prices but still have garbage video games in general.

with microsoft buying activision/blizzard, sony should aim to aqcuire ubisoft. ubisoft is one of the biggest dev out there and they make ton of games yearly, with some huge IPs too like assassins creed. If sony buys them and are able to add their own experience and ideas making games to ubisoft they would have something really really big on their hands. arguably not as big as having acti-blizzard and bethesda but still

Most gamers dont realize how good nfts are for games, forget the money side of them, having verifiable assets can help inhibit cheating by having verifiable assets, not to mention you can send assets to teammates to help your team, they dont have to be paid for, can be earned in game like normal assets, if u want to see a project thats doing it right, look at illuvium that is doing a fair launch

The unreal stuff is well. unreal. The Capcom MegaMan thing got my attention though. I've been replaying through the X-series bundles and honestly I hadn't entertained the idea of where they'd go in the next gen world. I don't know if I'd be down with an over-the-shoulder 3rd person, and I don't know how much further they could take the 2D/2. 5D concept and attract the new generation of gamers.

I am just worried about companies using the UE5 metahuman with motion capture to quickly and falling into the uncanny valley instead of a quicker way to do the same thing. Motion capture is also hard to do when you are interacting with something that is not there but with VR you have people who have grown up with interacting with stuff that isn't physically there.

I want this Microsoft to happen because, as much as I think, it's an attempt to a monopoly. It means Sony will have to work on making their own shooter.
Because frankly, cod isn't that good and has become more and more lazy. People only buy it for the same reason people keep buying apple, fanboys sheep doing what they're told.

UE5 is geared towards film making so it's not likely that stuff will get to video games any time soon except for maybe cut scenes. The basic templates in UE5 run at half the FPS as UE4 and almost melt the video card. So a full game using UE5 is going to have a hard time finding computers that can run them.

When I read a good book, I get TOTALLY immersed without any graphics at all. That's what developers should keep in mind. Also, if the violence is TOO realistic, it's a turn off. Good people want to PLAY at being violent in games, and not actually be violent and experience the gross results.

Again, we oooh and aww over graphics and the games don't work. Show me a working game and I'll show you the money. I don't care what they look like. Is it playable. I know we're talking about an engine but this is the problem with the industry now. Graphics over gameplay.

I personally DON'T CARE about how purdy the pictures look these days.
I'm just happy if the graphics card to NOT BURN HOTTER THAN THE SUN and cost 5 times than my house's yearly rent total.
Or run games without CRASHING. But that's a MINOR ISSUE. No biggie.

Cant play COD on pc because of the poor optimization on the latest patch, they added skins to buy but forgot that players actually want to play and use skins too. How can anyone be this bad though. Cash grab and dumb idiots who spend money on broken games.

Next time someone asks you what an NFT is, tell them, Non-Functional Trash. You can also just tell people at random. Might be interesting. I wonder what it looks like in print?
