A little diaspointed that this list is missing the most famous and biggest daddy of all graphics over gameplay games - Rise of the Robots (1994. It looked absolutely gorgous for the time, it was hyped as heck, and it played like absolutley dog shit. A review from Amiga Power at the time said - it's probably because the graphics are [so] good that the game plays so poorlyevery move the robots make takes so many frames of animation, and so much memory, and so many months of rendering with 3D Studio, that it simply wouldn't have been possible to make the gameplay any more complicated than it is.

The only one I played was Detroit Become Human. I hate how this game gaslighted me when it comes to graphics. Some scenes are almost photorealistic, especially the model after Jesse Williams. Then other times, even throughout some of this video, you get early 2010s level of graphics. Look at 11: 00, we see the most mid animation for filling that cup with water, the textures on the wall and table are so simple and low res, and all details on the humans are washed out with vaseline. If the tech isn't there, that's fine, but don't gaslight me with a beautiful intro only to not offer graphical consistency.

The problem I have with Visage (which I'm currently playing) is the controls. they sorta suck. They are VERY unintuitive. Having to press a combo of buttons just to move items around, or swap them in/out of inventory, is headache inducing. By the time I somewhat get used to it, I quit playing for the day. Then I basically have to relearn the next time I play. Games like Amnesia: The Bunker managed to have similar mechanics, yet the default controls are MILES better.
That, and the characters Run speed is that of an old man.

Graphics are like the size of the map or how many items or side quests/activities there are.
That's not what makes a game good. Is the map full of empty space or countless collectables Are the side quests/activities boring
If its ignorable then fine. For instace, we don't get any reward from collecting the 420 flags or killing the 69 Templar soldiers in AC1. The big emtpy space is skippable after the first 3 assassinations. Still the best Assassin's Creed.

Disagree with Detroit Become Human. The gameplay was much different than most other games I've played. You're both making small choices and big choices which may or may not lead to action. I never felt I was being lead along.
My big problem with Hellblade 2 was the combat. You can't defeat any enemy without Senua focusing. The controls were frustrating, and the quick strike capability was not there.

Personally I really like the callisto protocol. the combat is simple but effective imo. It got so much hate because it wasn't exactly like dead space but it's not dead space. it's it's own thing. and I really liked it. I really hope they get a chance to make a sequel and I hope they keep it melee focused, but rework the dodge mechanic and put some different melee weapons in there

The Order 1886 created an interesting world and characters that I would have liked to have seen expanded on. The game is definitely worth a playthrough if you can get it cheap. And Anthem was literally a $60 playable proof-of-concept. Hardly any game there at all. I rented it and was glad when I had to take it back. Releasing something like that needs to be illegal.

Final Fantasy XVI chose graphics over gameplay. The visuals and the effects are amazing. It is the most gorgeous game I have ever played, and it is the greatest spectacle I have ever seen. The cutscenes and the Eikon fights are phenomenal. But the gameplay, exploration, crafting, and storytelling were all weak. It was not as good as it should have been

I have long days away from home since my work told me I needed to work in another workplace, and I'd like to thank the gameranx team for uploading daily like this. It is really my comfort moment to watch the daily video while Im eating dinner before going to bed an hour after to start another day early. Thank you so much.

These may be the most prominent 10 but basically any AAA game that's come out since ohhh 2017 has basically been this. Games aren't about game play anymore they are about graphics, that's what people pay $80 for a pretty looking, rough story, buggy mess with half its features still locked behind a $50 seasons pass.

I really enjoyed GodFall. It wasn’t perfect, but it was fun. I’m one of those gamers that just loves every game I play for what makes it good.
GodFall was beautiful and had decent combat. Sure the story was just okay, but it had a lot of great ideas that fell just a little short. It was an easy 7/10 for me

The Quarry was amazing gameplay for me, but I guess everyone has their preference. As mentioned, not their best but for sure visually amazing! Also Detroit: Become Human was so fun! I love the choices and making decisions haha. Maybe I just love interactive movies and seeing different outcomes for each choice.

compared to other games in this graphics over gameplay genre i think calisto protocol had fun gameplay. doesnt happen often that i enjoy such a game enough to platinum it. normally i just watch a gameplay of these games.
believe me or not, but i liked it more than any resident evil game.

Anthem is the industries greatest tragedy in my opinion. That game had loads of potential. The gameplay is stellar and quite polished, and the environment is amazing. It's a shame they went the live-service route, dropping the ball, instead of a story-driven coop experience.

Ugh. Scorn looked good and I was eager to try it out, but I couldn't even get past the first puzzle. No clues as to what you're supposed to do with it or what the goal was. It was just there. Messed with it for several minutes and then uninstalled the game. Trash.

Horizon Forbidden West will need to be on your list for a great harmony between excellent gameplay and gorgeous graphics. Within the first hour of my first play through I had to stop and sit in awe as I wanted to just step into that beautiful world.

Hi. It hears like you adore the word gorgeous (mantioned about 20 times in this video) and you put the gameplay-aspect of a Game to the 2nd place. I have to ask this: Are you confusing films with games like the gamedevs of this games Have a nice day.

the callisto protocol needs a second chance. Because when I played it recently (I didn't play it when it came out) the gameplay was excellent, I personally thought it killed Dead Space in that department and Dead Space is one of my favorite games.

Before I clicked vid, I thought, if anthem isn't on this list, I'll consider unsubbing. (both of the hosts stuttering is difficult for me to get through) Seeing what #1 is, I think Anthem probably deserved the #1 spot, but glad it made it on the list!
