Even though VR has gained a little more popularity, there is absolutely zero chance that any of the AAA titles developed for them are profitable at all.
I actually think that studios dedicating so much time and resources to VR projects are being really disrespectful to the vast majority of players and people who got them where they are but have no interest in VR games. I would say the VR gaming community represents maybe a couple million people worldwide, maybe even less than 5% of the market. Fans of various IP's who spend years waiting for the studios they supported to elaborate on the stories they love get snubbed in favor of a ludicrously tiny overpriced niche market. The fact that Valve hasn't made a non VR version of Alyx is so scummy and part of the reason I don't support Valve anymore.
I've been with Metro since day one, on my 360, almost 15 years ago, and if I don't spend $700 on a headset that gives me ocular migraines, I don't get too experience the latest installment in a series that wouldn't exist without people like me who circle-jerked for them back in the day by word of mouth, and made Metro a semi-popular series instead of a cult classic.

The main thing that kept me away from VR is the graphics, since the arrival of the Quest 90% of the focus went into standalone and the dated looking mobile graphics are really off-putting for me. Happy to see that Q3 is really close to a proper PC game, but it's still not there. In the end it really makes me sad that with Metro we got another Quest copy-paste on PC instead of proper improved graphics. Also a little bit annoying, knowing how little effort it would take to make the PC graphics first and just throw LOD bias on the meshes/textures for Quest.

I hear devs that release their games on PC and PSVR2 are seeing a lot more sales on PSVR2. I know it seemed like Sony didn’t sell many, but it appears that the people who do own it show up for the games that release on it. The attachment rate is much higher than on PC or other VR headsets. I absolutely love mine, so if you have the means and enjoy VR I can’t recommend it enough. Especially now you can buy the adapter to use it on PC as well.

I’m not into horror
Not into shooting
But that’s kinda looks interesting
The VR mechanics and accents on story
Also kinda new to VR so would love to know more about it!
Both about games and may be some general quirks)
I have a quest 3
And mostly use it for messing with 3d modeling or as my lonely home theater to watch Netflix/play games from steam [via virtual desktop on a PC, steam vr just bugs out on me every time]

I know one thing for sure: Metro is a great fit for VR. Slower gameplay, focused on stealth and immersion, lots of fully physicalized items and fully animated actions. (RDR2 would be really good too) I spent a significant portion of the earlier Metro games playing in VR, and it was really fun even with whatever non-native VR capability I was using. I'll definitely be getting this one at some point. maybe right now.

What’s really fun here they aren’t a huge funded game dev like they are a small company and when you take that into account it’s amazing what these guys are doing given they do t have activision budgets type thing it’s just amazing a huge props was to the open world they did with exodus and the DLC’s I always want more and get sad but then wait DLC’s which are just as good as the main story

I keep somehow losing all my ammo without shooting it then go to shoot something and it says I am out of ammo lol. I think you can remove your magazine accidentally too easily on this you normally have to hold a button in a game to unlock the mag but it seems like while im holding my gun with 2 hands I am ripping magazines out and throwing em on the ground or something.

The haptics on this on PSVR2 are amazing. The immersion is increased so much with those. I'm loving it so far highly recommend it. Also, make sure you play with proper headphones, not earbuds again, the immersion is light years ahead like that. Action and horror sequences in every game really suffer without the bass and weight which earbuds simply cannot deliver.

For the people that like the post apocalypse soviet brutalist stile game in vr, give into the radius a try, the 2nd into the radius is also in the making and in early acces, the 2nd one is not compleet but playeble but to apriciate it more guve the first one a try and its amazing
And almost all the good thing about this game is in into the radius, and more.

I have a nice pc and vr but can only play racing sim games cause walking around in game makes me sick. I still think vr has a long way to go b4 it’s mainstream. I would love if you could plug a chip in you brain that allows you to experience true vr. Hopefully that will be ready b4 I die. Imagine how good that would be in the old folks home haha.

I so love the Metro Trilogy of games, yet have not read the novels as of yet. Respect to VR devs and players, but i just cannot play/use VR. I get physically sick. Guess my eyes and brain are not able to process VR, no matter how i try. I get dizzy and motion sick and my brain seems to glitch in previous attempts over the years with VR

look do i think a VR version of the Metro series is a badass idea ofcourse. am i someone who struggles to not lose my mind while playing a VR game also yes. so while i think those who do play VR and don't get motion sickness or can push through it will have a blast i don't think anyone should be expecting these games to build banks

Hake is right, its ok, a fun time, but bland in places with a bit of jank thrown iin. However whats so immersive is the gas mask. When you put it on it tricks your brain into thinking you actually wearing it because of the headset. I even felt my breath getting warmer. But mind was playing tricks.

I feel like they are being a bit sketchy on the Ps5 store. The base version of the game says Metro Awakening VR, but the other edition just says Metro Awakening Deluxe Edition on the thumbnail. I feel like some people are going to buy it without realizing that it too is for VR.

Someone needs to make a first person shooter/adventure game that does require the vr headset, but uses the motion controls. I think using the processing power of the console while just using the controls as the method of interacting with the world would be dope.

Something tells me this dude only ever went guns blazing into all the encounters when he played the previous Metro games. Like, for someone that says he likes a game for the story he sure as hell payed very little attention to the stories in all the Metro games.

The shooting. it looks like from the video nothing is ever actually on sight (like it is always offset to the right. Is that the way you have to play it or is it just the way the video looks I figured at least the forward sight would have to at least be on target.

If it wasn't VR I would have brought it like the rest i have been playing since day one on ps3 ps4 pc and have all achievements for 1-2 but not 3 I won't do it I'm missing one it's not worth it I refuse to do it
If not us then who

its funny to how general VR experience can alter the difficulty. Without Parole pretty much only reviews VR games and said this was a wildly easy game on the standard difficulty, then hear Jake say its tough and requires precise shooting

Looks awesome! loved the metro games. the lack of hud elements like the ammo counter, etc actually looks like it's adding on to the immersion factor like what the ranger mode did for the first three games. thanks for the review!
