my tops are
Terraria
Minecraft Java
Grim Dawn
honorable mentions:
Borderlands GOTY: the weapon effects of all the sequels are just nothing compared to this one. enemies dying in really spectacular ways when get layed low by elemental damage. pretty sure headshots had a effect too. as their heads seem to explode but not at the same time
Path Of Exile
Diablo 3
Raid Shadow Legends: yes the meme that is legendary. its overall the best Free to Play game i have ever come across. easily worth a few hours a day of actual play time per day. no pay wall. just stay away from the online community. the F2P content creators are the biggest joke ever. one spends most their time going over content they paid thousands for. has a service you can pay them to play the game for you. this list just goes on. not sure how heave handed the games PR department actually. but all i can ever find is content they pay for. which wouldn't be so suspect if the content itself wasn't so extremely suspect
pretty sure there are a lot more in my personal top list. pretty much any game where the devs just keep patching it. yeah most people probably don't consider many of those single player. to me they are though. just the way i play

Persona 5
With Persona 6 (aka metaphor refantazio) out it’s worth going back to the most stylish jrpg ever. I still prefer the unique urban setting over the fantasy world.
Metal gear solid V
We have to see how Konami goes with the MGS3 remake. If lucky we may get MGS124 remakes too
Monster Hunter XX / Generations Ultimate
OG Monster Hunter with OG difficulties. It still has the most amount of content and biggest roster of monsters. You can even play as the cat. Good luck finishing that within 1000 hours.
Since Monster Hunter Wilds is coming out next year it’s probably worth going back into Monster Hunter World again to get the bonus armor set with saved game from MHW.

AC Odessy deserves a spot on here. I know a lot of people hate Ubisoft for going open world, but a lot of us don’t. and Odessy is the best one they’ve made so far. The Diablo style loot the character micromanagement the endless amounts of stuff to do in game. Why the hate for it Just because they added more to do in the games then just run around assassinating people They made some of the best open world rpgs for those that like those kinda games why so much hate Why do they never get any love Something against Ubisoft

Agree to intensely disagree on Max Payne 3. Just replayed it, and oh my god does this game think it's the coolest, best written piece of media in the universe. Also takes control away from you at any opportunity, forcing you to sit through tons of unskippable cut scenes, on top of mostly lackluster level design. Some moments are great, but overall I would recommend anyone to stick to the Remedy games and just ignore this one.

I know you already mentioned FO: NV but I think FO4 should be on this list somewhere. I know it has its issues like bugs and also not being a real hard core rpg or anything but it is still a phenomenally fun game to play. Also I thought perhaps you might have squeezed the original black ops campaign onto here, even though that is also a multiplayer game, the single player campaign for that game is memorable as hell.

I know I am gonna sound crazy here, but I highly prefer Red Dead Redemption on console over the new PC port. To me, it is not the framerate or quality that matters to me, it was the game itself and where it was originated. Replaying the missions, doing challenges and activities, getting the explosive rifle and playing the Undead Nightmare DLC. That part will be the best part in my opinion.

Really great list. Some amazing games in that decade. RDR2 is, for me, probably #1. It's just so detailed and beautiful. Incredible story, characters and voice acting. The eco system was so lively and dense. The gameplay and horseback riding was perfect. I didn't mind the slow story or epilogue. I still jump in that game and roam around, it always stays installed.

I can't understand the hype around Control. It was a game that did dificulty so bad Remedy had to add in options to customize difficulty, including godmode, and the game had no respect for player time. It had each quarter hour ambushes by the same five type of enemies. This along with cookie cutter sidequests killed exploration by the end.

I'm currently nearing the end of my first playthrough of Persona 5 Royal. I haven't finished the entire story yet, but so far it has been one of the best games I've played!
I could name dozens more games, but this is the one that's keeping me entertained at the moment: )

LOL. just looked through that entire list. i played a few of those games for a few minutes and never again. only one i really played out of the entire bunch was Arkham City. defeated the joker, and then never played it again. just couldn't get into any of them

As much as I love FROM games and they definitely deserve to be on the list having 3 on them is a bit too much. Dishonored or Prey 2017 should have been here. MGSV, Shadow of Mordor, Mad Max, Dying Light. 20 is not enough for a list covering a whole decade.

The Last of Us. A life-changing experience. The game that got me into gaming. This franchise means a lot to me.
The first one stole my heart and the second one shattered it. Two of the best games I've ever played, I can't wait to see what's next.

I love Gameranx and always watch your videos, but it gets to a point where almost every list is exactly the same. Maybe try some times to do some obscure games, or hidden gems, or something different to make us know new games

Brilliant list I just recently got myself a PS3 I have been loving these old school games. I just started Max Payne 3 it's my first one of the series the are a bit weird to get use to but so far I am loving it.

Being an older gamer with a young child I've purchased most if not everything on the list and have only finished a few, this video will definitely motive me to get back a finish up more of them.

Might be a hot take but control and ff7r wasn't that great. Would have been nice to see some good indie games like stardew valley make in the list. Feels like a shame Titanfall 2 didn't make it.

From 2010 to 2020
I never forget splinter cell blacklist and ghost recon series. My favorite are wildland and future soldier.
Don't forget about assassins creed black flag. Love it so much

Currently replaying RDR for the first time since release. I wish it was a full on remaster because it doesn't feel as good control wise but I am surprised how much I've been sucked into it.
reply

The last of us was heckin brilliant! I'm so glad they finally released it last year for PC so I could play it and it was worth the wait. I can't wait until they release part 2 next year!
