Funny timing on this video, JUST the other day I was playing some GTA V and the cops were misbehaving, so I paid them some retribution, and I found myself WISHING that they had a sense of self-preservation, that they had the sense to fear me, to cower from me, to stop messing with me, how satisfying it would be for them to show me the proper respect, :)
Wow, #5 Mark Of The Ninja looks like a blatant rip-off of a game I played the prototype of before the full game came to Steam, I think: Ronin. Same side view, looks like the same mechanics, just slightly updated graphics. I'm vicariously offended, :)

Sadly it's only shown in dialogue, and just a few scenes, but Vagrant Story delved into this a little bit too way back in the day. One guy says something like He fights like a bloody Titan! and just wants to quit. Story-wise you're supposed to be this legendary warrior who's suffering from amnesia and relearning his skills, so it's just a neat little touch.
Honestly I didn't care much for the actual game, it had some mechanics I really did not like, but you could see some potential and the story and dialogue were pretty decent. It was maybe a bit too ahead of its time

Naughty Bear Panic in Paradise is another great one. I don't think it's available to buy anymore, because it was on the Xbox 360 Arcade, and that was the only way I know ot was available, but in that one you could weaponize fear against your targets to such a crazy extent by roaring at them, or killing their friends in front of them, or leading them into corpses, or certain masks would increase how scared the other bears are of you. That game was such a psychotic yet fun time.

One thing that I like about KCD2 is that the fight mechanic doesn't entirely abandon you for not fighting with perfect finesse. Granted, having skill will certainly make fighting much easier, but I think the developers knew that not every player would get the hang of it. I'm still on the fence as a total button-masher, but what I lack in controller dexterity my character more than makes up for in brute strength and stealth. Eventually I'll get use to it.

Wanted to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to Monolith for creating 2 awesome games and I wish the whole team the best of luck! I know it's VERY unlikely but would be AWESOME if they could become and independent developer then fans could HOUND WB into releasing the patent to them for a 3rd Middle Earth game. Again, I I doubt we ever see another game with the Nemesis system but if somehow, someway there would be a 3rd Middle Earth game, that would be amazing.

This is a fun topic! If you ever do a second list for this, you should mention one of the OG's for enemies being scared of you: Earthbound! As a kid, I remember being way over leveled walking around the map and all of the random encounter enemies would high-tail it outta my way and go hide in the corner haha. Of course I remember chasing them down just to have them die without even going into the random battle. Haha good times.

Shadow of Mordor / shadow of war.
That godlike feeling of rushing through enemy forces and encampments like water over rock, constantly switching between physical human form and spirit elf form to make inhuman leaps and overtaking the mental will of orcs until you have literally built an army worthy of Mordor even opposing commanders fear the protagonist.
I think it’s time for another playthrough.

Talking about Shadow Of Mordor as if it was better than Shadow Of War has to be the biggest sin of this video. I know that Shadow of War didn't have a perfect story but thanks to improved Nemesis System in Shadow Of War, you could do so much more with the orcs even making them go crazy from the amount of times you shamed them. Part from that little fact, the list was good. Have a good day!

Am I the only one put off KKDII due to its Oblivion NPCs and their godawful animations and dialogue in an otherwise hyper-realistic environment The game looks fun the more I see it, but the character models lack detail, have unconvincing behavior despite being in a realistic world, have the mother of all janky animations for a modern game of this scope, and have Oblivion-lite dialogue and va.

This is kind of a dumb example but the Batman begins video game uses fear very explicitly and their what it is is you do various things that scare armed enemies and they drop their guns. Which is dumb and not very realistic, but it fits the list.
I’m the weirdo who actually likes that game but I’m the first to tell you that it’s also a completely illogical element to the game

Almost every metal gear solid; you make headshots, they get helmets. you come at night, they get nightvision. you use shotguns, they get armor. and so on.
Also, NPC's will tell tales about snake based on how you take on every mission. They could mock you for being bad at the game or fear you. And the tales they tell are about missions your previously played, very cool.

I never forgot playing Dragon Age: Origins and using a certain dialogue where a kidnapper asks why the negotiator didn't appeared and you can answer he decided to send the Commander of the Grey instead. The bandits will realize they are dealing with the one who killed the Archdemon and run with tail between legs even though their boss orders them to stay.

Falcon I like the first Red Dead Redemption game, where the more higher or lower your reputation honor is. Well you get that High Noon moment in the game, which is not in the second game. But should have been, unless I missed in the game. Since I only remember only two moments in the game like that. But the first one you were always called out.

I was playing ghost of Tsushima the other day and man, I came across a fear build with the ghost armor that makes you legit the ghost set one or two on fire and everyone else gonna run man, this is one of the rare games that it feels like it’s not from this modern era and something from the golden age of ps2 goated games
I love it

This reminds me to old game called Bloodstone. When I first started, certain enemies are aggressive to my team. However when I became strong, those same enemy types are scared to my team and tried to flee the field. I played with these scared enemies by teleporting inside the field as soon as they near the edge.

In Mount & Blade, if your army is much stronger than an enemy's they'll turn tail and run at the sight of you, you'll have to case them down if you want to fight them. I always find it hilarious when my army is waiting somewhere that an enemy is trying to go and I get to watch them running back and forth.

I didn't play the TLoU2 but I did play the first one and what got to me was that it seemed more difficult to shoot a gun in a game than in real life for the first time. I'm not sure if the game devs thought it would be interesting to make something in-game more difficult than in real life but that's how it was.

In devil may cry 3 if you do a bunch of combos without stopping or getting hit the low tier reaper enemies from the opening cutscene will start to gradually walk backwards
In the cutscene they do the same when dante knocks one towards the wall and it turns to dust and then he'll go turn on the jukebox

It might not quite fit the bill of the video, but I did love Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, using the Cerebral Bore, and watching Dinozoid foot soldiers run away in a panic as the fired probe chases them. Same with using the Styracosaurus tank and watching them run when you come barreling down on them.
reply

We need enemy's to react in 1 of 3 ways when they are afraid 1. Freeze 2. Run (to hide or just keep running) 3. Small chance enemies become stronger and lash out with a stronger attack or actually stay boosted by fear.
It would make fear systems better by adding diversity and some risk
