How-to: $14 Lightweight Over-the-Shoulder Snorricam (Body-Mounted Camera Rig) DeanRendar84: Awesome, I did something similar at comic con in san diego last year with a telescoping selfie stick popping through the zippers of my backpack with a samsung gear 360 camera on it as I electric skateboarded near all the cosplayers in line at the convention center. I want to make this project or buy a dirt cheap manufactured version and do a race like that too, but the samsung gear will need a waterproof case.

I'm working on one of these right now with a few tweeks. I put a threaded coupling at the top so I could screw on the cap without worrying it would fall off like in the video. For the straps I am using nylon webbing using fasteners and three buckles so I can adjust it and not have to do any stitching.

Awesome! Thanks so much for all of this! Just made my own! I spend like $9. 95 (including paint, but I already had glue at home. Also, I suggest using a pipe cutter. One that has blade and spins round and round to cut PVC. You get ZERO mess, and straight cuts with no waste!

I wish I had found this video a few weeks prior to the Spartan Ultra World Championships in Sweden. Would have loved to have something like this to give a clearer shot of the course/environment. Thank you for sharing (many years later, still a great DIY project!

What is this thing that I have to screw into? My go pro doesnt have this where the pvc cap screw goes into the hole, someone please help, it looks so basic I dont understand how I can not have it especially since i have like 3 other funky ones that already came with it

Similar idea, but what would you recommend for a camera mounted similar to a predator style shoulder cannon? with motion capabilities? Might be a bit higher budget, with some animatronic ideas. but if anyone can make a mount like that, Indie Mogul can!

What kind of pipe is this?
I bought one type, but the inner diameter is 18 mm, and the pipe outer diameter is 20, 3 mm, and it can connect only if you heat both the item and press them, but in the video simply connected.

I built this rig and it's amazing, everyone loves it. If you have to crawl under something, then just simply take it off. The only annoying thing I deal with is too many exploiters trying to tell me to steal the idea and patent it.

drill a hole through the cap and pvc while its on it and put a coder pin through it for quick connect but the camera will not come off. you could even drill several holes to lock it into certain positions

Really want to make this but not exactly sure what dimensions you used to achieve your shot. Maybe a more descriptive video on exactly how to put it together and lengths would be useful. Thanks

How did you go about making the mount for the actual camera-to-pvc cap? I can't tell if its part of something that you have to buy from GoPro or a tripod mount or something. :/

Has anyone tried using this for a longer run? I'm doing a half marathon (13. 1 miles) and would love to film the whole time. Any tweaks to it or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I did it using electrical tape around the tip of the pole until I could tighten the handlebar mount onto the pole. Check out my snowboarding videos to see how it turned out.

Heading out to the store to get materials now. The only addition I plan on making is adding a wingnut and bolt lock to the the cap fitting so the camera doesn't come loose.

hi just a tip for the Aussies out there, this shopping list comes to approximately $35 for us. if you buy 25 mm pvc and cheap fittings/parts from bunnings.

heading out to the hardware store to make this today, instead of lashing straps im going to use an old book bag, should be more comfortable

Sweet stuff! Would be more lovely if you can somehow tweak the design a bit to make it collapsible so we can fit it in a backpack
