I looked into a few schools in NJ and Maryland, since my dad lives in Maryland and I could get in-state tuition having joint custody there. It was just my favorite school of the ones I visited at the time. But I put all my time into my film classes, and was slacking off otherwise, so when I had the opportunity to go to a school that was nothing but filmmaking, I jumped at it.

Hey Russ/Indy-Mogul! My birthday's coming up, and I am wondering what to get. I have a T4i and Tascam Dr-05, and I've been debating about whether to stick with the DR-05, or whether to get a Zoom H4n or a Rode Videomic. What do you think? Thanks, and I thought your footage was excellent; the colors were outstanding!

Thanks for this! It's really refreshing seeing how other people work on set. Even from the few music videos I've shot, I can see a lot of similarity in the attitude of everyone on set. Also, to see a couple CN-160s being used with gels to create some great colors is something I had considered. Thanks again!

Good stuff. The more technical you could be with these, I think the more value there will be for your viewers. Do one with the cinematographer where you guys discuss the shots you like the best, which were the most difficult and how you planned and achieved them. Thanks!

What would be sick is if you were able to do behind-the-scenes footage like this, but focus on each individual person's role. Perhaps not every actor, but I think it would be useful for many to know just what some of these roles actually entail.

Why did you choose the pink colored light? It seems a bit antithetical to the grunge of the film. I guess that pink color just reminds me of that 80's movie Miami feel.

Hey, I would be interested in seeing some pre-production videos like securing locations casting and things that you would do before actually shooting! That would be awesome. Amazing videos, look forward to seeing more!

YES YES YES! Please do more of this! Living in Australia kind of puts me at a disadvantage to find people shooting films, even more so people who will actually accept interns so this helps so much thanks Russell!

I can't afford to rent a cinema camera actually, at least not on this. If I Kickstarter a future project, I might do something like that (or try and get a Digital Bolex or 4k BlackMagic depending on how it did)

This was excellent! You completely succeeded in making me feel like I was on set. Great information. Great not making me feel like what I really wanted to see was going on just a few steps off camera.

I didn't actually! I'm just working with what I already own, or with what Kris already owns, and everyone's working for free. If I raise money for anything, it'll be for a feature project probably.

I was actually excited to see that. I have one neewer 160 LED light and was debating to get more since I felt like they did the job well and also compact. :p Thanks for sharing the bts videos.

A Zoom h4n would be a great choice if you can get a good XLR mic to go with it. Griffin and I both use the Azden SGM-1X, so I'd recommend that if you can get it!

Russel, I saw that you used a dslr. Why not a cinema camera. I am sure you could afford to rent an arri alexa or epic. Mayeve just go with a scarlet?

It's an old school 70s/80s lighting style I wanted to try and capture. Look up the trailers for Hobo with a Shotgun or Cobra to see what I mean.
