Gameplay and commentary on Max Payne 3, showing nihilistic bullet time in Brazil. Buy Max Payne 3 and other games for less on my game shop! My PC specs

I liked the third game a lot, but still, my main problem was the milieu. The pseudo-Chandler, hard-boiled stuff just seemed to be so much better in the previous games. After all, I think that the Max Payne games wouldn't have been so successful, if not for the neo-noir New York setting, and those wonderful graphic novels. Without the right atmosphere and milieu, the first Max Payne would have still been a revolutionary third person shooter, but a lot of Max Paynes charm comes from the over the top hard-boiled detective grittiness.

Lol. yeah I wasn't trying to disparage your rig or diminish your E-Peen at all. I mean mine is more or less on par, just double the GPUs and that's essentially it.
It's quite easy to squeeze plenty life out of these previous-gen rigs for the time being, given how console-centric ever developer is nowadays and the PS4/Xbox720 are still what. 2 years away at a minimum?
As for Vista, I wouldn't know. I held onto XP for dear-life like a leech on a pig's ass until the start of 2010 lols.

Just played the game through in one sitting on PC, and I really enjoyed it, but it feels a bit too -Holywood- for the Max Payne series. The thing that really frustrates me is that Max is done wrong, monologue and voice acting wise (even though the its done by the same actor. A lot of Max's inner monologue feels dumb compared to the work of Sam Lake, Max cursing doesnt work, and his voice should be even deeper than it was in the previous games, not more annoying. Still, I like this game a lot.

It's an alright game, a few complaints with how they handled the whole clue and golden gun system and not allowing you to backtrack at all. They also seem to really try hard to push the last stand mechanic and ruining a lot of the thrill when in large gun fights. Many times I was killed by an enemy I didn't see, that couldn't really see me, getting instantly shot and just not being able to save myself because the enemy wasn't even on screen or was completely hidden by a wall or whatever.

I don't list them in the video because I don't see the point. There are benchmarking websites out there for knowing what a game needs to run properly. I do mention whether the game is well-optimized or not, and my PC specs are on my website and video descriptions if you want to know. I always play at the highest possible settings, so saying that every time would be redundant as well. If something is weird I mention it, otherwise I see no point in dwelling on it when my focus is elsewhere.

Err. despite the fact it's two generations behind and would struggle to push 60FPS on BF3 - 1920x1080 with 2x AA?
GTX 560 Ti is mid-range. A Phenom II X6 is whooped by the slowest 2nd-gen i3 (2100. Plus no SSD.
It's good enough rig though, but I don't know where you're getting the idea it's a monster from however.
That build, even 2 years ago, could have been had for about $1200 bucks (maybe minus the 16GB of RAM, which is useless for gaming anyway.

Since I am a brazilian, this game was a must buy just to see how they depicted Sao Paulo and to hear all the swearing in portuguese (which is AWESOME in this game. I know people in USA are used to all that in videogames, but have in mind that for us that was a whole new experience.
I admit that if you are not from Brazil there is no such -wow- factor, and many may dislike the scenario change from previous games.

Another title that I wanna go out and get a 7th gen console just to play. Max Payne 3 is the pinnacle of third person action shooting. It's a crime we didn't get a rerelease for this one on a newer hardware.
Take2 doesn't care about any of their other properties it seems.
James McCaffrey should've been Max Payne in the film with John Woo or David Cronenberg or Michael Mann directing.

Sorry, I meant it reverts to a single handed weapon, and never back to a shotgun or rifle. I once didn't have any pistol bullets, and after the cut scene, it placed me in the middle of a firefight with no way to shoot back. I changed to the rifle but Max is very slow when changing weapons and I got shot up almost instantly. An annoying flaw in game design that.

PC specs are on my blog and linked to in dozens of my videos, and I always play at the highest settings anyway so it doesn't help to mention this every time. I mention when something is abnormal though, but otherwise there are other websites that answer technical questions. My focus is mainly how gameplay feels, not how to optimize settings for varying systems.
