I appreciate you pointing out how much Sim Earth (and implicitly Sim City) used to cost back in the day, and converting it to today-s $$. I too was a PC gamer back in the early -90-s, but had forgotten that most games back then ran about $50/pop, which was more than most console games at the time iirc.
With all of the Steam, HumbleBundle, and GOG (and others) sales all the time, I-ve come to expect cheap games, and have even balked at the idea of Paradox Interactive-s business model (1 game, and 50 [thousand] DLC/expansions. but looking back, especially considering the prices charged today, these are still something or a deal.

They say there's everywhere out there, every type of game and each year it's more and more.
But nope, there only is what somebody sold a lot of. Like Fortnite as one of many examples.
Seems like anybody who gets their hands on a budget is so afraid to spend it on something original, that gamers are trapped in a -Hedgehog Day-. Hence no chance of seeing a game like that, although it would be a nice one.

The Bird People were very militaristic, because they were all about the pecking order.
They were also somewhat greedy, they just couldn't get enough scratch.
They also had trouble planning for the future, they had a habit of counting their chicks before they hatched.
They also lived too risky, often keeping all their eggs in one basket.

in SimEarth you literally never want any civilization to use much fossil fuels, because there is always a significant chance, that it causes all oceans to boil off completely. Even a nuclear war has relative short effects in this game, compared to global warming.

I want a sequel. Feck off EA. It's time for the sims to die. Set maxis free. Let the sims go out in old school DOS- nuke animations. Sometimes the past holds the key to progress. Or the nuclear codes to nearly two decades of bland suburbia simulation. Let it die.

i remember running a game so long on 3. 1 a robot so advanced evolved, whenever i hovered over it to see the next step in its advancement the game would crash. loved playing this. ive looked for emulation or a compatible copy. wonder if theres one out there.

I'd like to see a remake of this game, kind of like how they did SimCity, where, you could actually zoom in on sims and watch them go about their little lives. Perhaps the scope is too big to allow for something like that, but it's a fun idea.

Ironically no one drops nukes because of Nuclear Deterrence. its essentially a fear that if let's say Country A and B have nukes. Country A won't nuke B because both have nukes and know the power of them. its an interesting thing.

The Windows version worked great on even modern Windows (32-bit that is, with full resolution and colour. In general, the translation to Windows worked awesome for the Sim games. Sadly, they're pretty much impossible to find nowadays.
