Somehow, Elf Bowling was once one of the most-played games around! As far as mainstream media was concerned, the big three in PC gaming were Doom, Quake. and Elf Bowling

THANK YOU for doing this review. I remember being part of a huge crowd of children around a single computer where we were (covertly, of course) downloading and playing this game. It was so amazing to us then and I couldn't remember what the game was, but thought that you've probably reviewed it haha. Glad I was right; this takes me back: ) I still feel just as rebellious as I did back in the day seeing those elven derriers wiggling in the air

oh god i remember playing this nonstop on my grandpa's linux pc. yes. my grandpa had a computer. now that i think of it, he sometimes told me go out of the room and not to set a single foot in because it was -dangerous- and he was -cleaning out viruses-. when i was a kid, i thought he was actually cleaning out viruses. but now. oh god he wasn't cleaning out viruses.

I always forget about your Christmas specials and they always make me laugh.
Big, fat double-like just for that intro. Add another one for the review and a game I obviously missed, way back when. Perhaps it didn't catch (as much) on over on my side of the pond.
Thanks, Clint! I am now sufficiently full of nostalgia and holiday cheer to last me all year.

By jove. The hours me and my cousins spent on this game. at least the first one.
I didn't realize there was millions of sequels AND a movie.
I remember frogapult as well. In fact, I think my grandparents got that game along with Elf Bowling. I never played it. For some reason, the frogs dying to the piranhas terrified me.

You should do I video on the -game-/program that, I believe was called something along the lines of -Desktop Destruction-. Or something like that.
You would run the program and it would then give you a variety of options to destroy your desktop (a hammer, ants, a gun, a chainsaw, etc)
I believe it was for Windows 95 or 98

I had completely forgotten about frogapult until I saw it on here! I must have been 6 or 7, going back to the computer in the back room of my grandmothers house to play elf bowling and frogapult. I looked up a gameplay video of frogapult, and the sound effects brought back so much nostalgia!
also, GUTTERBAAAAAAALL!

So, I've got to know, what's the game in the background when he's holding up the Elf Bowling box? The one with the person curled up in the fetal position wearing an orange and white jumpsuit? On the row to the left of Sim Earth, directly above Serious Sam. It caught my attention >_

Here in Europe we had another game that was very popular in 1999/2000: Moorhuhn (Crazy Chicken. It was a promotional game (for Johnny Walker) so it was free to download. It's a simple shoot 'em up. Nearly everyone with a PC played it. They even made a cartoon series.

Elf Bowling made its way around the web back in the late '90s. I remember sitting in my company's office and you'd hear -elf elf baby- and the elves laughing all throughout the office. It was a huge web game hit, right up there with Snowball Fight.
