I can't agree with 2 movies. 1. Mad Max 4 is the worst part of Max Quadrilogy, I would never recommend it to anybody. 2. Bullit is really boring film, if you cut out this one chase scene it has absolutely nothing to show. I would also add Predator, Police story, Rambo: First Blood, Aliens (if we classified it as action movie, one of Mission Impossible movies, John Wick, Bad Boys and probably a few more films (including whole Bond franchise. BTW I watch all parts of Lethal Weapon every 3-4 months, I love these movies.

I think about 3 of those are actually good movies. Most of the rest - especially The Matrix - are brain dead stories by people who have never read anything from the genre they're working in (the idea in The Matrix was being mined by SF authors as far back as the 1940s, and in ways that were actually original. Just one more indication of the ever downward spiral by Hollywood movie makers as they play it safe and count the dollars.

The biggest thing about all these movies is major box office returns. They got people into the theaters on a massive level. Most of the movies people are mentioning are good and possibly great but most did not do massive box office. They became cult classics after the fact. It really means something to capture the attention of the nation and become a phenomenon!

So the list was pretty good. Bourne Identity didnt need to be on it because all the Bourne movies are almost as plotless as John Wick. There are several must-see movies missing from this list including but not limited too: Aliens, Predator, Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan, Star Wars and Big Trouble in Little China.

List failure. Mad Max 1 & 2 (much better than MM4. Terminator 1 (much better than #2. Aliens. Ronin. Heat. Predator. The Thing. Collateral. Pulp Fiction. Reservoir Dogs. Rocky 1-4. Conan the Barbarian. Saving Private Ryan. Black Hawk Down. Yes, some of those are sci-fi action but still quite heavily action.

If you like the car chase scene in _Bullitt_, you should check out _The Seven Ups_ (1973) with the same lead stunt driver, Bill Hickman, careening around New York City instead of San Francisco. Hickman was also the stunt driver in _The French Connection_.
