Trilogies Ruined By One Movie

A couple of examples of this are _Back to the Future_ and _Batman Begins_.
According to the special features of BttF, Robert Zemeckis didn't have any plans to actually continue the story. When Marty and Jennifer got into the DeLorean with Doc at the end of the first film, it was intended to imply that the three of them were to just go off on more adventures, only existing in the minds of the audience. They said that _if_ a sequel was planned at that time, Jennifer would've been left behind as they didn't know what to do with her, which is why Doc knocks her out at the start of the second film.
I read somewhere that Christopher Nolan said that the joker playing card shown at the end of Batman Begins was just him saying Yeah. you _know_ the rest, rather than it being an indication that he was going to make a follow-up.
To me, the end of _The Matrix_ seems like one of these. The battle against the machines may not be over, but now Neo, for all intents and purposes, is a _god_, able to reshape the matrix as he sees fit, the tide has turned. In the sequels, it's revealed that his supposedly god-like powers pretty much amount to being able to fly and stop bullets. He can no longer dismantle agents at a whim, thanks to upgrades and seems to be in thrall to the rules of the matrix as before, just with a couple of gimmicks. All this seems indicative that Wachowskis originally intended the first film to be a one-off and not part of a three film arc.

Come on, did you even watch the movie?
I bet you watched one after the other on a couch.
Don't remember waiting for months and months for the second movie?
How about not knowing there was going to be a second movie as you a child n dont know any better.
The biggest thing I wanted to see was more involvement into the real world.
They showed only a ship and mentioned a city.
Seeing how many people they have and their way of life was introduced in the second movie.
Setting that could not be completely expressed in the first movie and needed a movie devoted to it.
Just think, they are showing how difficult the world actually is when you put on the sunglasses.
It is easier just to keep things how they are and fighting seems hopeless.
Remind me of Reagan trying to return to the matrix.
Betrayed the crew to go back to this reality with unlimited assets and perks.
As for Neo's Resolution.
Come on really?
He was destined to defeat smith.
The order he achieved this also allowed for the human race to achieve Peace.
The fight did not matter, the result was one way versus another.
If neo lost as in actually died and smith continued his crusade then both
the humans and machines would have lost.
More then likely it was the balance in the equation the allows neo to live.
If you dont see all the aspects included in the movie i dont blame you, there is a multitude of levels to the movie and each touch on other subjects, some more appealing then others.

For the most part I enjoyed Iron Man 3. Most problems people have with it are a matter of taste (such as the switcharoo regarding the Mandarin.
However, there is one plot-hole that effects the rest of MCU going forward- Extremis.
Extremis is shown to have been developed as a wonder-drug, able to regenerate severed limbs, even to the point of apparent mortal wounds. Of course, it's unstable causing psychosis, addiction, super-powers and explosions in it's users.
However, by the end of the film, Tony manages to perfect Extremis, stabling Pepper and even using it to be able to remove the shrapnel in his heart (and I suppose, healing that great big hole he has in his chest.
Wait, what? So the MCU has a miracle drug now? Where was that when Quicksilver was shot up? How come Nick Fury is still walking about with one eye? You could have a character's arms ripped off, but no worries- a quick shot of Extremis will have you right as nine-pence!

In my opinion, Ragnarok was the one that ruined the Thor movies set. Ive always hated Taika Waititi and his work, because it always comes off as childish and barely a step up form fart humour. The fact that he took Thor, and turned it into a slapfest that was all joke all the time and throwing ALL the serious shit out the window that its just wrong. Literally watch all movies with Thor in them, and Ragnarok is the black sheep.
I could enjoy the movie if it as its own movie, but the fact that its supposed to be part of a trilogy just makes it unbearable to watch.

Idk who u people are or what u be talkn about half the time. The terminator movies, and the Thor trilogy where and are awesome. I still watch them all the time. The only Terminator movie that wasn't that good was the newer 1 that didnt have Swartzaneger in it. All the Spiderman movies rocked. U sound like the old Siskel ebert type. Who wants clasical movie structure. With a protagonist that real pulls at the heart strings gives u something to root for. Blah blah blah!

The spider man trilogy was great bc of the advancements in special effects. To the point where everyone ignored toby Maguire's lack of acting skills. Everyone just wanted to see spider man finally swing through cities on the big screen. The blade trilogy was ruined bc of wesley snipes ego. The dude was weird as hell. The thor trilogy was ruined bc of thor ragnarok. It put so many jokes in that it became a joke. To much forced humor. Thor the dark world wasn't that bad

Generally if it was wet as a Trilogy it usually works, it is when they write a stand alone that does so well they decide to clean up of its success and make a couple sequels. Or they leave an opening at the end which allows for a continuation of the story if it should happen to be successful enough. In both of those situations, it almost always feels off or forced, or worse still. It feels like what it is, just a bunch of opportunists Trying to cash in.

Should have included Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy.
Batman Begins was a solid introduction to a grittier, darker take on the character.
The Dark Knight was absolutely revolutionary, and one of the best films of the 21st century.
The Dark Knight Rises was a plodding, overlong slog with two miscast villains and a messy plot that should have been at least half an hour shorter.

I wouldn't say that LotR and Star Wars were unblemished. Two Towers always felt a bit meh aside from the Battle of Helm's Deep. It wasn't bad, but it felt underwhelming overall. Return of the Jedi has its moments, but it doesn't quite reach the highs of the first two and felt a little samey. My opinion of course. To each their own and what not.
