Hes smiling because while those circumstances are true, they are much different than what the characters originally expected. Originally they thought Tony would die from his self destructive personality and because he constantly thought he knew better. Pepper would have to watch knowing they love each other, but that she could never be with someone so irresponsible. The smile is because hes dying and shes watching, but all the other circumstances are different. He gave up everything for her. He became a true selfless hero, not just by building machines, but by being a good husband and father. Its a knowing smile. We knew wed end up here, but would you have ever guessed Id die saving the universe? A universe in which we are married with a daughter and until recently Id given up the superhero gig. Its beautifully, hauntingly the same, but different.
Anyone else get me? Or am I crazy?

Honestly both infinity war and endgame movies are a big disappointment. I think they could and should have done a much better job of finishing the whole story. the movies have a lot of glitches, pretty big glitches, the story kills story, in principle i feel like they had no idea how to connect and fit all the stories with each other and as if they were forced to make a movie without enough space to do it properly. too bad

I love that his final words were Hey Pep. His entire body was radiated with Gamma radiation and he died in an extreme agony, but he still mustered enough strength to say good bye to his wife.
When people say Tony Stark is Iron Man, its not because of his suit, its because hes the man to endure so much pain and agony and is willing to sacrifice himself.

Endgame is just a remake of infinty war ( oh wait let's just invent a time machine ) this series is ruined, this is was a big mistake the greed of making more money has dostroyed the story.
i just want to say the real hero in this whole serie is: THANOS.

Because he took 6 infinity stones to the head. His Mind and Body was fried in the end the suit could only hold the stones for so long.
