I know Barney isn't the best boyfriend but I consider Ted to be a far worst boyfriend. On his Quest for true love he ends up hurting a lot of nice women in the process one of which is a close personal friend (Robyn. He breaks up with a girl on her birthday, gets back with her 3 years later and does the exact same thing. He also undermines most if not all the girls he is with. He also blames his friends whenever they have a valid reason for him to not date a girl a good example is the Stella situation. This is all because of his own insecurities. He justifies these acts with his Quest for true love, when all he does is date a nice girl and throws them to the wayside when he is bored. Ted is also a big problem in the beginning of Barney and Robyn's relationship saying Barney is bad friend to dating Robyn, even though he was in a loving relationship at the time. He does a lot of other bad things to alot of other women. So that is why I consider Ted to be for worst boyfriend and all around person in How I Met Your Mother.

Ross? Are you shitting me? Remember the time Ross missed the chance of being on tv to take care of Rachel? Remember the time Ross decided to take Rachel to prom when her date stood her up? Remember the time Ross intentionally made himself lose a poker game just to see Rachel smile? Remember the time Ross taught Rachel to stand up for herself in the laundry room and how much it meant to her? All these things he did without even mentioning because he did them out of pure love for Rachel. Sure he made some mistakes and had his share of selfish moments but so did Rachel (dont even get me started) and everyone else, and thats okay because people arent perfect and these characters are realistic. If you want to see a perfect world with perfect characters go watch cartoon.

See as draining and cringe-inducing as Sheldon is, he genuinely does not understand the subtleties of human interaction and he slowly improves over time.
But Ross is a representation of the parts of ourselves that we are ashamed of. He's selfish, whiny, insecure, needy and possessive. And while he does have his good moments, those aspects of him never change. He is fully capable of understanding and changing his behaviour but he never does.
One of his most disgusting episodes is when he makes out with Rachel on Monica's engagement night. He is fully aware that it would be inappropriate, he goes ahead and does it anyway. And when Monica's distressed, he spends the entire time trying to make himself look better instead of apologising to her.

He saw her at her most attractive, yet fell head over heels in love with her when she was pregnant. He saw her as a strong woman while Ross always held on to her being the needy spoiled brat she was and controlled her and never let her forget it.

Ok dean wasnt the best boyfriend but he definitely does not belong on this list, especially when someone like chuck bass is not on this list, like what the hell? Also jess was way worse, i actually never got why people gloriify him that much, he was also an awful boyfriend, I actually think dean was quit a good boyfriend considering his age and the fact that hes was simply trying to fight for their relationship and i mean he was right about the fact that rory liked jess. I feel like rory was way worse of a girlfriend then he was as a boyfriend

Ross and Rachel were so toxic to each other who couldn't reciprocate their love for eachother and to me it seems that they got together only after the baby was born, ofc kudos to Rachel who went from a money freak to money making by achieving success in fashion industry and meanwhile Ross just remaining Ross in his museum work and not changing much for 10 years, the most absurd thing is that Rachel left a high class job in Paris for Ross who is just toxic, mind you in real life this guy is dangerous.

Dan Humphrey was amazing to serena. Sure they both screwed up a lot but in the end there meant to be. Dan wouldnt have been on the list if it wasnt for him being gossip girl which made no sense anyway. I love chair as well but chuck is horrible boyfriend to Blair a lot of the time. He literally traded her for a hotel, tried to punch her, slept with Jenny, and did much more. If you gonna put dan on the list than you should put chuck as well. Nate wasnt perfect either.

I honestly think Ross is worse than Mr Big. Big works through his issues and eventually realizes how much hes messed up and that Carrie deserves more from him. Ross was a terrible boyfriend but a great person. He didn't mean to do things but his life forced his mentality to change in that way. Become possessive, kind-of-obsessive and for the show it was fun so let's not blame him but in real life he obviously needed help so let's cut him some slack.

Honestly I dont think sheldon was a bad boyfriend I just think that him and Amy both struggled with showing feelings and understanding others but they both helped each other become better people so I do think its a strong relationship
