How was Frozen more popular than Tangled with critics? Tangled has a much more focused story and character chemistry. Gothel wants to live forever after discovering the magic flower. After its taken to heal the dying queen, Rapunzel is born infused with its healing power. To celebrate the queens recovery and birth of Rapunzel, a lantern festival is held. Gothel sneaks into Rapunzels room and discovers the power is in her hair, but wont work if cut, so she kidnaps her. To discourage Rapunzel from ever leaving the tower Gothel raises her in, she always emphasizes the dangers of the world. The kingdom annually holds the festival on her birthday to hopefully guide her back home. Since no one likes being secluded, and because Rapunzels curious about the lanterns, she asks for a special kind of paint that will take three days to get. That way she has enough time to leave and return without Gothel knowing. Theres also a thief that finds the entrance to the tower when escaping arrest for stealing a royal crown. When he hides in the tower, Rapunzel knocks him out and refuses to free him and give him back the crown unless he takes her to see the source of the lanterns. Along their journey they have experiences that encourage them to tell more about each other and develop a romance. All the emotional moments and motivations are logically set up.
Tangled isn't cliche just for being a love story. It's plenty original. Eugene's self awareness of Disney cliches is more subtle and clever than Frozens humor. None of the two lead characters fall in love until they learn more about each other on their journey. They dont get married until years after the films events, as stated by Eugene at the end. The princess helps the man as much as he helps her and she saves the male. The moral is about trying to fulfill dreams and that theres always more dreams to have afterward, which is a very inspiring and more applicable message people can relate to than Frozen.
Most of why Frozen is so popular is because of the song Let it Go. They advertised that song before the movie released. Frozen isnt that unique. The theme of sisterly love was done much better in Lilo and Stitch and various Disney animated movies already waited for the female lead get married or fall in love until they got to know the man better. Mulan and Tangled did this much better too. - continued

While I definitely agree Lion King is probably the best, considering its got everything, a lovely romance, several deep themes, majestic music along with just the right amount of comedy as well, the Lion King 2 is almost as good, seeing it has basically all the strengths as the original. Im so sad Pocahontas wasnt even an honorable mention, I get a ton of descendants were NOT happy about historical accuracy but its Disney, what did you expect? The music is breathtaking, the animation and colors are amazing, along with Pocahontas and John Smith having the most magical and ethereal encounterments in all of Disney. That scene alone is probably my favorite in the entire movie, and is one of the best animated scenes EVER: the way they just look at each other is the definition of love at first sight! Undoubtedly theyre one of my favorite couples of all time! And If I Never Knew You is undoubtedly one of the best love songs EVER. Honestly its such a shame it never really had a chance to be amazing all because it was inspired by a real person. Im part Native American myself and its honestly one of my all time favorites, I always bawl my eyes out at the ending. Also Hunchback of Notre Dame shouldve been on here, considering its undoubtedly the darkest movie of Disney. The music is majestic, we have even darker themes and Quasimodo is the first male protagonist who doesnt get the girl but is happy just for finally being accepted by Parisians without being scorned or mocked. Tangled as well I definitely prefer over Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and Pinnochio. They definitely arent bad, but thats just me. Honestly I feel Tangled is waay more interesting than Frozen, the music is awesome, Flynn has got to be the best Disney prince ever, and though I personally am not a fan of Rapunzels pixie cut, shes so adorable along with Pascal and Maximus. Olaf wasnt that bad in the original, but I found him a bit annoying in part 2, and while Sven is adorable as Kristoffs BFF, he doesnt really do much aside from pulling his sleigh or riding him. Not to mention Elsa is NOT the first Disney Queen, that goes to Kida of Atlantis the Lost Empire.

I loved the Emperors new groove growing up, and it still makes me laugh.
I love the fact that Lion King got the top spot in this list. It was my favorite Disney film growing up and the only one where I actually have my original VHS copy for somewhere in my house. My earliest memories are filled with me, my older brother, and my parents watching either Lion King or the Lord of the Rings trilogy together. It is also one of the the only two Disney animated films that I have also seen the broadway version of, with the other one being Aladdin.
Also Robin Williams will always be the greatest Genie to me. May he Rest In Peace.

The original goofy movie is king on the stand up song. Hands down I don't care if it's just Max or not. WE'RE STILL WAITING FOR THE SEQUEL FROM 1995 before he went to collage. Original Disney pictures, where you at? Here's an idea. Have max and the boys quit collage and start the next Powerline group with the boys from Gamma Mo Mo fraternity and still have Bradley Uppercrust III as the antagonist. For a future flame for both, but they're both in upcoming of their respective goals and careers

Oh yeah, because Timon and Pumbaa's constant loud obnoxious voices and flatulence humor and the fact that The Lion King has a less creative story and setting to offer with only basic other characters to try making up for it all somehow makes The Lion King so. much more intriguing than every other Disney movie you've listed in this list, doesn't it? Heck, even The Princess and the Frog had more interesting characters, more maturity, and better creativity to offer than the Lion King.

The lion king is not just my favourite Disney movie, it's my all time favourite movie. When my dad died 14 years ago, i was only 16 and it took me 2 years to watch the lion king again and a further 1 year without fast forwarding the stampede part. Even now i tense up at that part. Still the story, characters and animation is just on another level and something that is lacking in animated movies of today

Frozen is the 3rd highest grossing American animated movie of all time, only behind The Super Mario Bros Movie and Frozen 2! The live action remake of The Lion King is animated, and that is actually the highest grossing one ever, but I dont really consider it animation, while others do. Although, Frozen is the highest grossing ever to win an Oscar.

If the Disney princes, tho she tech isnt a princess, Alice was the first to be fleshed out, and have a good personality and character, Snow White is meh, Cinderella was the year after I think else she would count as the first but Alice is def the second best princess behind Cinderella

Disney may not be the entertainment juggernaut it was back then today, but the movies they subsequently released in the past will always be the gold standard of greatness when it comes to animated films.

Why do I find Lion King's story too simplistic and boring? I mean other Disney films are much more complex like Zootopia and Ratatouille. Even Cinderella 3 is more exciting.
