Top 10 2000s Movies That Havent Aged Well Movies are for entertainment and escape purposes. Why do we need to go woke on old films. Its how we see the attitudes and actions of the past in order to not repeat the bad ones. Also, unlikeable characters are there for a reason. Theyre there to shock us and not for us to like them or their behaviors. They give substance to a storyline.
Todays films are really lacking any real substance as their creators fear offending one person or focus on diversity. the 2000s had some good films, but thats when tokenism really took flight with the gay or black best friend. Putting them in because they had to and not because the character added anything. Watch any teen movie from this time and youll see a gay best friend in every film. At least in my best friends wedding the gay best friend actually played an important role, but still. Anyways the last few years have gotten way too judgy on the past as if were superior or something. Take me back to the 90s anytime, at least people were more genuine and less self involved.\r\n

The worst part of Shallow Hal is that the they get a skinny actress to wear a fat suit to play the fat version of Rosemary. The first 10 times I watched this movie, I never knew that the fat and skinny versions of Rosemary were played by the same actress. I thought they were played by completely different actresses.
So there really was absolutely no reason to get the actress to wear a fat suit. They could have just hired a genuine fat person to play the fat version of Rosemary, and then AFTERWARDS hired a skinny actress who looks similar to the fat actress, to play the skinny version of Rosemary. Because there are a lot less fat actresses.
That would have made the movie a lot better.
And it would have been a lot more respectful to fat people. Because instead of skinny people making media about fat people and dressing themselves up as fat to tell the story, they could have hired and paid an actual fat person to more authentically help them tell the story.

My thoughts on this list.
10 This movie is underrated.
9. Havent seen it.

7. Havent seen it. Sasha Baren Cohens humor has zero appeal to me.
6. The plot of this movie is so problematic.
5. Havent seen it.
4. Elise As much as I love this movie I wholeheartedly agree with you.
3. I rewatched this movie this Christmas and I was off put by the whole relationship between the prime minister and his secretary.
2. Havent seen it.
1. 100% agree!
Honorable Mentions. Havent seen most of these. I agree with what you said about Bridesmaids.

I hate that the brilliance of Gena & James part of The Notebook is so overshadowed by the dreck of the young roles.
I also hate that the fact that Love Actually is always overlooked where the PM doesnt see her as fat (which shes not) but beautiful. Especially when the English boy going to America to have an orgy is NEVER mentioned.

Long live 'woke' culture. Soon laughing will be socially inappropriate alltogether. On a more positive note: Katherine Heigl can FINALLY rest in peace about her carreer being destroyed over her opinion on this movie. God I'm glad I'm not living in America, land of free speech, as long as you're not scared of getting cancelled that is

Product of their time?
They are better than the current time
People take things WAY too seriously these days
People knew back then and know now but are self silenced by PC not to acknowledge that non PC stuff is tongue in cheek and fun

I disagree with #3 & #2. I still keep watching and AM entertained by the former. The latter holds well because its Franchise is soon to be expanded and Has Fantastic visual effects and is at the top at the box office, thanks to numerous re-releases.

yall are reaching so much nobody cared then. and theres like 11 people on twitter that find shit like this offensive and then non stop talk about it. nobody cares now. Notice how these type of videos you post have a lot of dislikes. read the room

I hated Garden State the day I saw it back in 2004.
Crash was awful out of the gate too, it was obvious to anyone who thought about anything that happened in it for more than two seconds. The only good Crash is the 1996 Cronenberg one.

You know, it had me thinking, there was nothing wrong with these movies at the time of their release, yet if some snowflake has a problem now, the movie hasnt aged well.
Maybe the actual problem is you.

Despite the majority of the movies having been crap at the time they've been published, this list shows one major thing: how boringly prudish the USA has become in the last years. MOJO and Will Smith can't take a joke.
reply

I don't think the American sense of humor is aging very well. It's offensive these days to laugh at anything. I'm actually no fan of any of these movies (nor was I ever, but they're just movies for chistsake.

I watched Shallow Hal in 2021 for the first (and only) time and I felt so horrible after watching it - I understand what it was trying to say but I think they did it completely wrong
reply

Omg thank you! As a child my friends loved the notebook and said that I had to watch it but as soon as I saw the scene with the Ferris wheel I cringed and turned it off

In die hard Hans grouber was a bad egg he shouldnt have been in it as he killed someone. Called acting jack to tell a story. If everyone was good you got not story.

Interesting how Katherine Heigl was criticized/condemned for her comments about Knocked Up. Now, her comments are being viewed as retrospectively poignant.
reply

the Avatar one is sort of a good point but it was decent of the plot to make it so Sully had to actually become a navi to help. had to abandon his whiteness
reply

This list was ridiculous. I still like most these movies This is framed by the type of person who frames everything as problematic/toxic.
reply

Avatar I never liked since day one
But hating a white savior is downright effing racist
You should be ashamed of yourselves WatchMojo

reply

Garden State still rox. great soundtrack. idc how anyone else feels. if I enjoy it, ai enjoy it. I don't think too hard about ideology etc.
reply

Bruno was a let down compared to Borat and not funny for the most part
But it's problematic stuff is funnier now because its taboo

reply

Shallow Hal and Knocked Up are great. Today's social climate is the whole problem. Complaining Avatar is a white savior movie
reply

I personally dont want a world where movies arent allowed to be politically incorrect or insensitive to my feelings.
reply

Knocked up is funny
And it's clever
I like it more now than I when I first saw it
I don't care what anyone says

reply

People who dont like these movie the. Sorry just your just a sensitive little baby you shouldnt watch it to be even begin with
reply

Why is the Note Book any Better or Worse than modern films?
Because it's a chick flick
It sucked since day one

reply

None of these films have gotten better or worse. There's just a large group of people who need to lighten the hell up.
reply

I dont understand why Crash couldnt compete against Clint Eastwoods Million Dollar Baby. Both movies came out in 2004!
