SLP certainly isn't a romcom & I don't know why many people describe it as such. It's less than 5% comedy & there's not much romance in it. It's primarily an unhappy drama. Why does it have a gambling subplot that isn't in the novel it's based on? Jennifer Lawrence was far too young to play her role. She was in her early 20s, playing a widow who has a great deal of life experience who is clearly written as being a couple of decades older than that. It's unusual in the Western world for a person in their early 20s to have married & very rare for them to be widowed. That year's Best Actress Oscar should have gone to Naomi Watts for her performance in The Impossible.

I love how Waitress had a realistic ending. While it WOULD have been nice to see Jenna and Dr. Pottamer end up together, it's for the best that they split up, since he's already married, and she wants to give her daughter Lulu the best possible life.

Hey what about Hitch? This underrated Rom-com goes through a topic about how both men and women should interact with each other when they pursue romantic relationships in general.

What about physical disabilities? Oh yeah I forgot. We dont talk about that. Were still not considered as human in this modern society. Were only pitied. A taboo and a burden.

Pretty Woman is more unbelievable than most romcoms. Edward wouldn't spend a great deal of time, money & effort classing up a streetwalker. He'd hire a high-class call girl.

A decade later, Nathan Fillion auditioned to portray a crazed L. A. cop on ABC's The Rookie, but, not until he auditioned to portray a crazed New York cop on ABC's Castle.

The subplot in Trainwreck of the protagonist's father becoming ill & dying is out of place. It starts as a fun comedy, so why include a miserable subplot?

Some little specks of Jack Torrance in the As Good As It Gets segment! So happy Adrienne Shelly's movie made #1. One of the best movies ever.

As Good As It Gets is more of a drama than a comedy, isn't believable & the characters are unlikeable. Why is it praised so much.

Why is Crazy Rich Asians usually described as a comedy? It's less than 10% comedy. If that's a comedy, so is Die Hard.
