Despite only seeing most of the films for the first time after signing up for HBO Max, I wasnt able to spot most of these references. The one I was able to immediately spot however was the theme of Princess Mononoke, which is my all time favorite Ghibli film, and not just because many elements from the film have gone on to inspire the earliest character design of Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano and the mythical Loth-wolves from the final season of Star Wars Rebels (2014-2018. As a nature lover myself, Princess Mononoke spoke to me on a very personal level and I believe its every persons right to learn how to live in peace with the environment and the millions of animals that share the world with us.

Im still pissed off Mojo is still using the Fox English dub of Totoro when it comes to their Ghibli videos, they using the version that has older voice actresses voicing the sisters and they sound more like Rugrats characters than real little girls. Thats why I prefer the Disney dub English version over that version, they actually had real sisters which was the Fanning sisters (when they were still little girls at that time) voicing the sisters which made it more realistic and believable. Please mojo stop using the fox version and use the Disney dub instead in your future Ghibli and anime themed videos!

One of the great missed opportunities was Disney never attempting a Ghibli-type story. Lassiter introduced Miyazaki one year at SDCC and said everyone at Pixar worshipped Ghibli, but the chickenshits never tried to create anything like Spirited Away or Mononoke. Disney was the one company that could have pulled it off, but instead they whiffed, leaving Pixar to decay into an irrevelent ghost of itself. Maybe we'll see Lassiter do better with his new gig.

My personal favourite is Whisper of the Heart. I love its message of inspiration, passion and determination. It shows that putting your heart into something that you want to aspire to be while a good thing, you have to learn more from it in order to expand your horizons. If you do these things right, it can lead to great things you may not have expected.

This is what makes Studio Ghibli stand out from other animation studios. Theyre not afraid to address some serious issues and not afraid to go dark with it to get its point across. But Im hoping well get a trailer for How do you live soon. Although, Im wondering when it does come to west, will it go straight to HBO max or get a wide theatric release?

I love Howls Moving Castle so much. I had never heard of Studio Ghibli Movies until my daughter had me watch it. I followed with Kikis Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke. I still have more on my watch list now. Hope they stay on HBO Max for awhile.

Honestly, the only movie from Ghibli that I like is When Marnie Was There (adapted from the novel of the same name. Since the original novel takes place in the UK, they obviously had to change the names, but otherwise, the movie is pretty faithful to the book.

the four movies I haven't seen those on this list are, When The wind rises, when Marnie was there, My neighbor Totoro(I still might try and watch this, this one actually looks good to me and I actually want to watch it) and grave of the fireflies

Spirited away and Kiki's delivery service are my favorites because they both show how how scary and hard growing up can be but also how both characters don't have bravery because of lack of fear but do things in spite of it.

When Marnie Was There also dealt with Japanese society's attitudes towards adoption and the challenges sometimes faced by non-Japanese people or those of mixed-ethnicity in Japan.

Anime always had an under lining hidden message that teaches young Otakus something. While cartoons spews nothing but garbage to rot our brains #AnimeIsNotACartoon

I adore Studio Ghibli, their films shaped my childhood, and they have complex, relatable themes and memorable characters you appreciate all the more as you mature.

Princess Mononoke is my all time favorite Studio Ghibli film. I saw it in theater when it first came out and I fell in love with the aesthetics and the story.

Studio Ghibli puts so much thought and deeper meaning into their movies. It's honestly very impressive. They are masters of animation.

Every time I Look back at these Vids. I Truly did not Notice Adult Humor or Serious Issues in these Movies as a Child. Especially in Disney.

I like spirited away from an artistic perspective. Out of all the anime characters chihiro is the most asian by art design in my opinion

I just went to see Spirited Away Live on Stage in theaters. It was amazing. Hayao Miyazaki is a genius storyteller.

I could only watch grave of the fireflies once. Even though I was young, the horrors of war rang loud and clear.
