2003 version will always be my favorite. When I was little I got a crush on the 2003 peter pan too. I think all the characters were portrayed beautifully. I loved Tink. She was the typical fun, loving, loyal, brave, and sassy character we all love. Tiger Lily was awesome too. The new Disney live action was pretty bad. Tink was a flat character. Wendy was pretty feminist. This magic belongs to NO BOY! Not to mention that even though Wendy is a dreamer and adventurous she was also maternal and they made Wendy hate the idea of being a mother. The only thing I really liked was Hooks backstory because it was close to the book. Hook was the first lost boy and Peter's best friend. Only in the book it was really dark.

Honestly, if it weren't for the reaaaaally terrible portrayal of the Indigenous people, the Disney animated one would be my favorite- Captain Hook is hysterical and Mr Smee is a criminally underrated Disney sidekick. I have to go with the 2003 version, it really takes my breath away, the music, the visuals, it's pure magic.

It was traditional that the actor who played Hook also played Mr Darling. Partly for cost effectiveness but also because the story is about a girl wanting not to grow up and clinging on to childhood. As her father is the one who wants her to move from the nursery, it would make sense that he is the bad guy in her imaginary world.

Peter in the 2023 film is useless. Disney was just being dishonest, its a bait and switch type of thing. It probably worked for some with Star Wars but I think the audience can now see how deceptive they can be. Disney should have been honest and called the film Wendy & Tinkerbell and maybe Tiger Lily.

Hook has always been my utter favorite to me its everything Peter Pan should be, pure fun and nostalgia. I also love the themes of letting your inner child shine even in adulthood, Peter being a mixture of the overly exaggerated lost boys and the overly exaggerated pirates. It makes me so happy

Why Not include Peter pan movie call Neverland in 2011. No one talk about Charlie Rowe as peter. I think it was a very interesting prequal peter pan movie. The cast was good, the story was very interesting and made sense. Just effect was actually bad. But it's a good peter pan movie too.

The 2003 version has held up all this time for a reason. It has yet to be topped and the latest live action from Disney is no competition. I grew up with that version and love it! I never liked the story of Peter Pan until that movie came out. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

I agree with most comments that the 2003 peter Pan movie was the best of them all.
But I have to mention that you guys missed a movie that also belongs to this category: the peter and Wendy movie from 2015, where we follow a girl named Lucy, who fights a serious illness.

I love the 2003 version as well BUT why is no one talking about the Disney sequel that came out in 2002 called Return to Neverland?
It's one of the best Disney sequels and I dare to say that it's better than the 1953 movie. The reunion scene at the end was so sweet!

Hook has a special place in my heart. I was the target age group for it when it was released, and it was a really good take on it. The original Disney animated movie is in my top 10 favorite Disney movies. The best live action one is definitely 2003.

to answer the question about the lost boys, they did leave neverland with the darling siblings and peter went to live with the fairies. it took time, but soon they all forgot about peter pan and neverland. the only one who could remember was wendy.

Hopefully wendy won't take a more active role. That's one of the MANY issues the most recent film had. And if you really stop to analyze Peter Pan, it's Wendy's story the whole time and Peter represents Wendy's dreams and desires to never grow up.

I adore both Hook and Peter Pan (2003)
I had a definite crush on Jeremy Sumpter and I thought having Jason Isaacs play both Capt. Hook and Mr. Darling gave such an interesting look at that particular character and adulthood.

I love hook. It was my childhood movie and the food fight scene was memorable. The 2003 version is also one of favorite. I love the lead male actor for Peter Pan. He fits the part well. The story line was beautiful.

a little update, the 2023 one, in short, community-friendly terms, did not do any of peter pan films, even the peter pan story itself justice, and focused on being woke.

Hook is a spinoff. It deviates far too much from the story to be a real Peter Pan movie. He goes against very strong principles Peter has. Its just not Peter Pan.
