Herd Of Zebras Adopts Orphaned Baby Wild Hearts If it is a newborn and its mother died or abandoned it, how will it survive without getting needed COLOSTRUM and milk from its mother
I dont know about zebras but Ive raised a few colts and fillys AND THIER chances of surviwithout COLOSTRUM AND MOTHERS FIRST MILK IS VERY SLIM UNLESS YOU HAVE A NANNY GOAT TO MILK THAT HAS JUST DELIVERED KIDS TO SUBSTITUTE FOR THE MARES MILK. THE HORSE COLT OR FILLY USUALLY WONT EVEN SURVIVE ON POWDERED MILK SUBSTITUTES THEY NEED THAT COLOSTRUM TO BUILD THIER IMMUNE SYSTEM TO SURVIVE. I TELL YA TO LOOSE A BABY COLT OR FILLY IS HEART BREAKING. IT HAPPENS WHEN IT CAN BE A MARES FIRST COLT SHE DOEST UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE IS SOPPOSED TO DO, OR SHE JUST REFUSES TO ACCEPT HER BABY AND ALLOW IT TO NURSE, CAN EVEN KICK AND KILL IT IF YOU DONT GET THEM SEPERATED QUICK ENOUGH.
WHAT IS STRANGE IS SHEVSHOULD GET BREED AGAIN HER NEXT OFFSPRING SHE CAN SURPRISINGLY TURN OUT TO BE A VERY GOOD MOTHER, THEN YOU WONDER WHY SHE WOULD ACCEPT ONE HORSE COLT OR FILLY AND NOT THE OTHER ESPECIALLY IF WAS BREED BY THE SAME STUD HORSE
IVE SEEN A CROSS BETWEEN A HORSE AND A ZEBRA A ZORSE I THINK THATS WHAT THEY ARE CALLED SO I KNOW THIER VERY CLOSELY RELATED.

These zebras are probably cape mountain zebras which, not like other zebra species, want to keep all the members in their herds, so it is understandable that they 'adopted' this orphaned zebra, either way if it is a stallion, to keep the genetics more diverse, and if it's a mare, to simply breed with her also to make more genetically diverse foals
But it's true it is heartwarming to see this, but we are giving wild animals too much 'human emotions', and sometimes the explanation is more simple than we think

I would think he has some rough time ahead but the fact that they accepted him and could get him to water (as dangerous as that is) it looks old enough to nibble and hunger would drive him to nibble more. Could be they would meet up with another herd with a mare who lost a foal and she would be interested. That would be the best solution and that is the one I'm going to leave in my mind. Good luck little one

I like when abandoned animals are saved, don’t get me wrong. But I’m glad most people know to not interact with them and save them. Unless it’s a zoo or something leave them. they could become food for a lion pride. Maybe that lion pride would have died without it. An animal death (caused by something natural) can save another animals life. This sure is adorable though and I’m happy it found a new family.

Don't you just love it when something so beautiful and moving has just been seen, and still the comments descend into arguments One thing about comments, they are often more entertaining than the video (not this one of course. Everyone should be feeling happy after watching this!

Waw, that was such a smooth adoption. I know for horses, you gotta smother the foal in the mother's scent. They just saw a baby out in the open and go, yes, this shall be ours

If you want to end the cruelty and exploitation against non-human animals, stop bootlicking the tradition of centuries worth of abuse and go Vegan!

Is anyone going to mention that this is not at all a common occurrence and that normally other animals tend to ignore abandoned offspring
reply

Zebra: 'Hey! Hey! Kid, we were joking, you don't have to do the initiation to join the herd. Come back. Just ignore Barry, he's 1/4 Jackass.

Hate to say this but not sure the baby is old enough to survive without its mother’s milk.

Zebras are usually very nasty towards someone else's foal, even in the same herds

He may have gone with the herd, but if he doesn't get milk he's not going to make it.
