None of these hold a candle to the abomination that is the reboot of Kolchak: The Night Stalker. The charm of the original is completely lost in this rehash of the beloved show. Out of 10 episodes, I truly only kinda like one of them. In this iteration, Carl Kolchak is a reporter for an Internet tabloid ) I think. The biggest mistake they made was that it had an overarching story where Carl's wife was mysteriously kidnapped and maybe murdered, again I think. This IP may have been the inspiration for FOX TV's The X-Files, but it didn't need an X-Files retooling, done btw by Frank Spotnitz, someone who worked on the FOX show.
Oh, I almost completely forgot to mention that they tried to get fans of the elder version by putting Easter eggs in the episodes. They put reflections of Darren McGavin in every week, as though he worked where this Kolchak works. Sad

There was a scandal involving the Charlie's Angels reboot: One of the crew members patted Minka Kelly on the rear with one hand while holding up a hundred dollar bill with the other hand, insinuating that she was a hooker.
She got so upset she ran back to her trailer and locked herself in. The crew member later apologized but was fired for this insult.
The abrupt cancellation of this series only proved how bad the show was.
Plus I've always wondered why he did this to begin with: Did she have a bad rep to begin with Or were there widespread rumors that she had casting couched the producers to get her role

you seem to be going after just about every reboot
If so, you missed ROSWELL NEW MEXICO - which did improve on the original by including substantial Hispanic characters in a New Mexico setting, but it did seem to imply that they'd all be immigrants or their children, when they could simply be descendants of people living there before 1848. It also developed the idea of how symbiotic alien twins would cope in adulthood.
STAR TREK DISCOVERY - just by going with the naff Kelvin universe rather than the twentieth century series and films

I mean no disrespect but why was Velma changed from a freckle faced girl to looking like a foreign exchange student then add a bunch of woke b. s. and please understand im not a racist and im actually mixed myself but i personally am tired of the race swapping and adding crap to beloved shows and reboots we never asked for. and Netflix should have just stuck with being a DVD thing. now they're just garbage

As obscenely obnoxious and mean as Teen Titans Go may be, I don't think A more zany and cartoony Superhero Sitcom with DC characters is a horrible idea. I just wish that Go had different voice actors or just a different team of Superheroes. They may have kept kept insistitng they were a different incarnation, but it's kind of a chore when it has the exact Same 5 Titans as before.

If you liked Adventure Time or the Regular Show and hate on Velma you really need to reevaluate your life, Adult Swims whole draw was that it was created by a snarky wise ass millennials with trauma for jaded Millennials and Gen Z’ers (Gen Mid. Adult Swim was straight trash and still is random trash that thinks that it’s weird.

Moral of the story is if CW or HBO Max make a reboot it will more than likely suck.
Also while diversity and modernization can be a good thing it's like vitamins, oxygen, or anything else a body needs. To much of a good thing has the opposite effect and will cause more damage than good benefits

Fantasy Island had an interesting sequel, where the island was handled by Mr. Roark's grand-niece, Elena. It was nice and it had some charm, even if it never totally recaptured the magic of the original, it had interesting homages to the original and it built a larger magical universe.

Velma is the reason why I'm slowly becoming goth.
Because the writers are a bunch of greedy conformists snakes that only see money in their eyes.
Honestly, The Goth Kids from South Park were right the world and society is shit.
As a fan of Scooby Doo, I miss the beloved dog.

Teen Titans Go! doesn't belong on this list with all these much more terrible shows in my opinion. It's only a silly and sometimes even funny kid's cartoon. The fact that Cartoon Network's 2000s Teen Titans is a masterpiece and also a complete other Genre than G0! doesn't change that.

Velma is The Worst Adult Animated Series Ever
They May Daphne and Fred Bullies Instead of Leaders of Mystery Inc and They Are Villains
Shaggy Has No Cowardly Behavior
Scooby-Doo is Not in The Film
And No Ghosts No Monsters And No Unmasking Scenes
Just R-Rated Onscreen Kills

I can understand why certain reboots people hated and rightfully so. Velma and Teen Titans Go, for example, are shows that tweaked the characters personalities entirely from the sourced material that they're based off of too much. Therefore, people dislike the reboots entirely.
reply

For me, the fantasy island reboot failed because the main character was changed from someone who wanted to help solve people's problems, into a bully who'd punch someone in the face then criticize them for bleeding all over the place. I turned off the series one episode in.

There may of been a few I didn't like here and there, but at least they tried and failed. Also some of these could have been good, with the right director and writer. Why do some people think they can put a new spin on it with out thinking it's not going to work.
reply

Velma should be in the top 5. There's no mystery to solve, the characters have lost their charm and characteristics that we love, and they've eliminated Scooby Doo, the namesake of the franchise. William Hanna & Joseph Barbara are probably fuming.

I agree with everything on this list, EXCEPT for the beauty & the beast reboot. It had brilliant writing, compelling characters, a magnetic romance, exciting action, clever twists, all wrapped up in a rousing reinvention of a classic fairy tale
reply

As someone who didn't know it was a reboot, I liked CW's Beauty and the Beast at least mostly but pretty much all of the others on this list are definitely right. They really need to stop with reboots and come up with original programs.

Dragnet/LADragnet was a good show, however it ended the way it did because it was moved around, preempted and generally made impossible to watch by the NETWORK. Get it off this list. Btw shows that last 5 seasons are not failures.
reply

It’s sad how stinkers of TV shows like Velma who have nothing but hate on it get renewed for a second season, but good shows like Inside Job are canceled after one season despite the positive response from critics and audiences
reply

How many movies have you watched and thought man that coulda been much better due to subject matter alone. Yet they choose to reboot classics which shouldn’t be touched. Re do the failures not the classics maybe.
