Is this the future of home haircuts? Testing flowbee. Catie: The Flowbee is basically a family tradition in my family. My dad hasn't been to a barber in almost 30 years because my mom has been giving him haircuts with it at home since the 90s. When I was little (in the 2000s, she also cut both mine and her own bangs with it (and no, it did not look bad, at least when you consider she still had poofy 90s bangs and I was a little kid. Now that I have short, curly (3A) hair, my mom cuts it for me in between my salon appointments. It does a pretty good job - the only things it can't do are going super short, like right up against the scalp (because that's not safe lol) and right around the ears (it can't do tight areas or little details.
P. S. I've never really thought about the name before, but I would imagine flow means the flow of the air and hair into the vacuum and bee refers to the yellow and black color of the machine, as well as its buzz.

this was so triggering for me. i only got flowbee mullet haircuts that i despised until 2000 when i went into 5th grade and convinced my mom to let me grow out the sides of the mullet so i could chop that back off and have a bob.
you definitely needed more suction. my parents used a shop vac. there was never any sectioning in our house other than front/back of head for the mullet action. and that up and down motion was aggressive so you basically just got pounded in the head with the attachment for 10 minutes straight.
traumatic for sure.

Ahhh! The Flowbee. I had a friend that had one when they went on the market and she had long hair and tried to cut her hair, but she got the cutting (whatever they are) pieces and didnt understand the assignment and cut a good sized chunk out of her hair. Her mom bought it for her dad and brothers. Now she knows better than to mess one.

I just used my new Flowbee today to cut my hair into a fauxhawk and it worked perfectly. Good suction is the key (I have an average Eureka vacuum. You shouldnt have to hold the hair up into the clippers, the suction should grab and pull them up with force even at a distance. The Flowbee is a godsend, you should attempt it again!

There was another version that had a long hose extension for long uniform layer cuts. I cant remember if it was the same brand or a different one. I wanted one because we couldnt afford the salon but my mom didnt know how to do layers. We couldnt afford it though since it was more than the salon.

I can literally imagine people back in the day getting so excited to give themselves a trim but then run into the same issues and practically come out like a patchy, bald-ish person. Then have to face the music at the barber and explain what happened

I find myself bursting out with laughter just randomly throughout your videos. it's like the craziness just builds up and then I'm just done. taping a freaking Flowbee to a Dyson? LMAO your videos are pure gold and you are my absolute guilty pleasure!

I'm having strange memories of my dad using this on himself. And maybe it dog? That being said, my dad does hold on to find forever, so he was probably using the vacuum that my parents got for their wedding in the 80's the dog looked cute though.

My husband literally has had one of the Robocuts for YEARS and uses it every time. It's similar to this. He's figured out how to make his hair amazing with it! He apparently was looking for a Flowbee and liked the Robocut better.

So Im just watching this and thinking about the the name. The Bee part might be because bees buzz and youre buzz cutting your hair and flow well its a vacuum lol but you tell me if it makes sense to you?
reply

My mum used it when I was a child and it works when the vacuum is strong enough. But yea it is horrible loud and if you use it a peer times the blades are no longer sharp and it will rip of your hair.

Damn dude, I could have sent you an original from the infomercial, my late dad bought one when they first came out, legit he used it for like 30 years, still has the box. Also trick is a shopvac.

Noooo they don't sell the flower anymore I remember when I was a young lad in the 70's and these came out I wanted one soooo bad! And no they don't come w a. vacuum you must attach it to ur vac.

Man this brings me back. Lucky for me my mother loved me so we didn't have a flowbee.
If that is the actual commercial that is insane. Do you hate your family? Do you hate your kids?
