On this weeks episode of Dining on a Dime, host Lucas Peterson travels 30 miles outside of Austin to Coupland, Texas, to visit Coupland Inn and Dancehalla Texas-sized (7, 000+ square feet) dance hall serving up equally generous portions of Texan cuisine. Watch to join Peterson for a basket of brisket-stuffed, deep-fried jalapeo peppers (not a drill) and a spin or two around the dance floor

It's been a very long time since I had a chicken fried steak, and that looks like heaven on a plate. I live in upstate NY, so the dish is not indigenous and lackluster at best up north. I'd rather opt for fish n chips when I visit my folks in CT or my sister in Boston if I'm going to have a fried meal. The last time I had a good chicken fried steak was visiting a friend in Atlanta back in 2002 and he introduced me to soul food. I was there for a week and ordered about 100 worth of sides that might keep for a day or two on the plane ride home so i could share them with my girl and friends. I'd never even heard of collared greens before.

Lucas my friend, the dance you did wasn't good enough to burn those calories! Anyway, great show and keep up the good work (and your wonderful smile too) BTW, everything is bigger in Texas certainly lives up to its reputation, no kidding!

I am willing to personally SLAY the chicken myself to get me that chicken fried steak! Than thing is yuuuuuuge! The local, franchise-based batter-fried chicken steak here isn't worth the price. And too damn small!

Lucas! What an excellent episode. Reminded me of my maternal Grandmothers family when we lived in Texas. One episode a week of Dining on a Dime is too few. I'm sharing this on Facebook. Blessings ChefMike

How did he do it? So laid-back, effortless, and real. Lucas, imagine how happy Vance is going to be when he finds out that you told the whole world that he did his job well done: )

How much did all that food cost? I'm sure it was no damn dime! The title should be dining out with Lucas and just leave the dime out completely. Don't you think?

Lucas! Awesome episode. I would hire Vance in a heartbeat in NYC! The next time I'm in Austin for business I'm driving out there. Thanks man!
