I thought what Wayne Crocker Jr. had to say (while folding napkins) was very profound. Maybe the penal system should look at the affect Ms. G is having on the inmates and take notice. The higher echelon of the system should listen to what Wayne said: It's different when a woman teaches you to do things and teaches you how to act, than with a man, 'cause you know with a man you can get frustrated, you can cuss him out, you can act a fool, you know. But with a woman you tend to like take the soft approach or pay attention more to what they got to say, 'cause you know, it's like a mother. If there is such a thing as rehabilitation, this is the closest thing I've seen to it in reference to prison life.

I really enjoyed this video! This is the kind of positivity we need more of in our country. As the country with the highest ratio of prisoners to population ratio, we need more positive correctional rehabilitation that give people not just skills, but hope and a positive vision for their future for if/when they're released. Keep it up!

this is the best eater vid I've seen. what a great mini documentary. I hope those men use those skills to start their lives over when they get out. other prison systems should follow north Carolinas lead. I wish this was a full featured documentary. hats off to eater.

This is how all correctional facilities should be operating. Give them life lessons and useful skills to use in the work force. Not lock them in a pen and watch them get even angrier, then set them back into society worse than before.

only half way through and i can tell this is my favourite video you've put out since i've been watching. may i request less unanimated recitals of uncontroversial restaurant reviews and more of this cuisine-reporting blend, please?

Much better to teach them skills to stay out of crime once they get out. Food industry is hard work but a very diverse industry. Makes a lot of sense to teach them those skills.

I really loved this! I went to school in Chapel Hill next to Hillsborough and never knew about this program. Thanks for shedding light in a positive way

Puts into perspective how it really never is too late for anyone to make a change. I damn thought my life was in the shit 3 years ago, but here I am.

Great post Eater. We can't forget about people in jail. They are not all horrible people. Most just need trust and guidance on how to do right.

this is a great program, so many inmates are released just to return due to the lack of skills and the stigma around being a convicted felon.
