Angelenos love to hike, and one restaurant, in particular, serves as a charming favorite for regular hikers of the San Gabriel Mountains. In this episode of Cult Following, host Serena Dai visits Adams Pack Station one of the last places in Southern California that still uses donkeys to send supplies to hikers that also has a killer outdoor restaurant. Her friend and Eater LA senior editor Farley Elliott, whos been going for years, went along as a guide

Drinking Coors Light and worrying about the idea that your burger is frozen or not is insane. You're drinking the most highly processed beer (which is undoubtedly made from heavily processed and genetically modified corn and barley) and justifying a guilty conscience for enjoying frozen burger patties at the same time is lunacy. Coors is not made with whole grains and herbs. Nothing about it is not heavily processed. Extracts and pellets. Why pay to ship raw grain at a terrible weight/waste ratio when you can have it converted into a syrup by a subsidiary, shipped by rail, ferment a pre-processed product, and sell it for pennies on the dollar? Turning raw grain into beer is a fermentation process, process being the operative word, even at the most artisanal level. Beer is a processed product by nature. I don't understand why modern Americans are so afraid of food science. Human civilization would not have sustained if not for animal domestication and agricultural science. Back in the 80's we lauded celebrities for wanting to stop world hunger, but now that genetically modified foods are making real headway towards that goal, first world citizens are too good to eat GMO produce and want to stamp out science they don't understand.

serena. girl. pls. I know commenters aren't nice to you, but coming from someone who just means well - try to do some research before heading out, try to ask engaging and fun questions to the owner, think about how you'll talk about and describe the food, the atmosphere, and people that makes this place (or any other place you host for) so special. bonus points for throwing in some food anthropology/history and chatting with a few regulars to get their perspective.

Recently you have been getting other people to help you with your videos, great idea Serena LOL! It's funny the series is called Cult Following but seems to me that the majority of the cult wants you replaced for a better host. In my opinion she just isn't meant to be a food host, laughing repeatedly just doesn't help me as a viewer understand how the food tastes.

Both these hosts are not not good at all. The female host doesn't say much and what she does say are one worded answers like, cool ok or laughs. And the male hosts is more worried about if his exaggerated haircut is properly styled over to the right. Every time he takes a bite, his hand compulsively goes to pat his hair into place.

I think she must be talented behind the scenes, but does not shine on camera. She just does not seem to be able to draw enough knowledge from different sources to bring interesting thought and perspective to the food she is trying, at least not on the fly, the way a real talented interviewer/presenter can. Lucas is probably best.

I've been hiking at this place since I was a child. It's a pretty easy hike with lots of shade (as of a couple years ago. The Pack Station is great for a bite shared afterwards. Not gonna say that it's terrific terrific food (it's overpriced, but it's definitely something to try once bc of the fun atmosphere!

I didn't like Elliot at first. He seemed pushy and over the top. I'm not sure if it's because he's co-hosting with the female equivalent of plank from Ed, Edd, n Eddy, or because he actually has become a better host. All i know, is that i liked his perspective quite a bit. Well done Elliot.

Whenever I feel like the world is a sad place, I come to the Eater comment sections where everyone agrees with each other. If we're not hating on Nick for his pompous ways, we're complaining about this girl who has the personality of the colour beige. I love you guys.

Another mediocre dumpster fire of an episode where the host throws out binary comments on the food and doesn't acknowledge anything about the environment, backstory, looks, or taste of whatever's served. Utter garbage and thoroughly disgusting effort.

This clip features a superficial as well as a redundant conversation between two bland persons and the clip is just as bad as the convenience food shown in this episode. To sum it up - no thanks, I don't like this episode, nor do I like the hosts.
